stopping to eat an apple and watch the clouds from 11000' or so on rainier: the cloud level was about 5000'-6000', turning the pacific nw into a vast ocean with scattered islands, like baker and the cascades to the north and the tatoosh, adams, st.helens, and hood to the south...
