ABOUT ME

My name is Jen, I'm 22 from Long Island, NY. There's no place like home, but there's nothing like discovering your soul in different cities and lands. I've been to Europe and China, and yet I've only seen the East Coast of the US. This year is my year to see more.

PHILOSOPHY

I went to school for 6 years and came out of it as directionless as I went in. I used to see "no direction" as a flaw, but now I see it as a beacon of hope, because my creative/exploratory personality relies on it for inspiration. In the meantime, I love helping people feel happy and inspired as well.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hm, participate? Well, I don't like to show up anywhere empty handed. I also don't like to be waited on, its all about being a team player.
I currently work in a medical office, and it's forced me to become very organized/punctual/communicative. That, and I also run my own art business, so I guess you can say I try to keep on top of things.

I'll take my shoes off at the door if you prefer!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have not had any couchsurfing experiences yet. More to come.

Interests

The arts (contemporary, visual, musical, theatre), the culture of any place or peoples, hiking, writing (can you tell?), bands/shows, festivals, interesting foods/confections, international and farmers markets, dancing/clubbing, being thrifty/efficient in creative ways. I studied multiple disciplines: journalism/art/environmental science.
I like typical dive bars too, but just sitting there and drinking unless there's something interesting going on (drag show anyone?) isn't really my thing.

Music, Movies, and Books

There are many of all, but without alternative music I wouldn't know what to do with myself or how to get through any traveling/commutes. Going to local band shows has always been part of my life since I was 12. I studied journalism in college and I think Newsweek has some of the most brilliant writers being published. That, and The Daily Show's (and Colbert Reoport) writers as well.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach people how to draw, and I also love to help out with visually marketing entrepreneurial endeavors. I'm a wiz at Photoshop/ Illustrator and I can build you a blogspot website in a day(see mine:www.jenchifaces.com).
