My partner (Patrick) and I quit our jobs in Portland, OR back in April 2013 and headed out to see the world. We enjoyed living like locals and learning the real culture/politics/history of the towns we visited. Three+ years later, we're now in Coos Bay, OR where we hope to eventually have a couch of our own so that we can give back to this great community. We believe that The Universe will take care of you if you treat it right. https://www.facebook.com/SlowlyGlobal/

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
It's a great way to meet local people and see places you wouldn't normally see. We stayed with two wonderful families in Australia. We've also spent 10 weeks WWOOFing in Canada during the summer of 2013 and three months WWOOFing around Australia - kind of the same thing as Couchsurfing only they feed you and make you work. :)
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies - Hair, Muppet Movie (original!), Princess Bride Books - A Prayer for Owen Meany, The River Why Music - just about anything... we try to experience local bands or music in every town we visit
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Traveled internationally/domestically for 3+ years. Set foot on Antarctica. Jumped out of a plane in Oregon. Canyon swung in New Zealand. Hiked the Annapurna Circuit. Do I have to pick just one?
Teach, Learn, Share
I used to teach English to non-native speakers, so I'm happy to help anyone practice their English. We'd love to learn tips for your town, places you've traveled, advice on life in general!
What I Can Share With Hosts
We'd love to swap travel stories. We're also happy to help you around the house or garden during our stay.
My Interests
Exploring local music, cooking (especially trying to recreate meals we've had around the world), finding free/quirky places in new towns, making new like-minded friends, being outside as much as possible.
