About Me
Exploring NewZealand for a year from August 2018-2019 😊 Can't wait to see this country and meet some great people!
We've already met some great Kiwis on couchsurfing so hoping to meet some more as it really is about who you meet!
You can find us on instagram @Compass_Keen and @mementomortis
I use this account with my boyfriend Callum, all our references are as a pair and we've had this account since 2013. So far we have had great hosts in Norway/ Sweden/ Denmark & USA, attended amazing meet ups/ road trips and had great advice the world over. We love the community on here and can't wait to meet more!
ABOUT ME
I love to be creative and adventurous. Unfortunately I cannot host at the moment as I am travelling but should be able to soon if all goes to plan :)
PHILOSOPHY
"Be the change you seek in the world." Ghandi
Carpe diem.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We love to travel, meet new people and see a place from the local perspective, couchsurfing is brilliant for this. The best travel memories are often from doing "everyday" things, it's all about appreciating the people you meet and sharing how you see a place.
Interests
I love to write and take photographs, travel, films and live events. Hiking and nature are always big on my list of to-dos whenever we go a place as well as great food and viewpoints :)

Music, Movies, and Books
My all time favourite book is Kim by Rudyard Kipling (if you are looking for an Indian travel story I recommend this one).
I studied literature and language so I generally appreciate the majority of books & films on creative merit and love terrible films too as they are easy to watch. If something is weird or quirky I will like it, currently the hell realms museum in Singapore is my new favourite place 😂
Yann tiersen is my favourite musician of all time (therefore I love Amelie the film), but we both love alternative music. Alot of lofi/ synthwave/ jazz at the moment (Mac De Marco, Papooz) but rock, metal, indie of course too!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hitch-hiked across British Columbia including Vancouver island; hiked through the Grand Canyon to it's waterfalls; herded sheep via boat on a small arctic island; swam beneath the northern lights & winter stars; i've been a poet speaker a few times at national literature events; worked at the Olympics & Paralympics; ski'd in the Austrian Alps; Welcomed New Year on a Danish Rooftop; travelled via ferris wheel to various festivals; met the queen through my artwork; hiked to Canadian mountaintop lakes, Norwegian snowy fjords and Scottish lochs, met amazing people from all over the world, had amazing friends, family, travels etc...
Teach, Learn, Share
I would really love to learn a second language so improving my french or taking up Italian would be brilliant for me. Anything about local culture you can share would be fascinating, I love to capture everyday life with photography.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you are interested in England I guess I can share some local knowledge, also I have some experience wwoofing, handy with a paintbrush, also handy with a camera and copywriting and other than that hopefully just good company :) Callum can also play the guitar so can give a quick lesson if you want to learn. We volunteer a lot via workaway so dishwashing, animal caring and weed pulling are second nature to us if you need a helping hand.
