Overview
About Me
I'm a chemistry student (don't worry, no meth) from Ottawa who is currently living abroad in Germany. I am from a francophone minority in the anglophone province of Ontario so I was raised speaking both languages. I have also lived in France for over 4 months as well as Germany for 2 months. My newfound passion for Europe has lead me to explore as much of it as I can. Back home my hobbies include skating/hockey, motorcycle and bicycle riding and going out with friends. I love meeting new people and I am a spontaneous person who is not so obsessed with the destination, but rather the journey.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Firstly, I always find it more interesting to meet locals than to only see things from a tourists' point of view. I am travelling to have genuine experiences rather than just sightseeing, although I do enjoy sightseeing as well :D
Unfortunately travelling in Europe with the weak Canadian dollar has been very taxing financially, this is the second reason for searching on couch-surfing. Despite the fact that I have worked in France and am currently working in Germany, it can still be very difficult to get by being a student.
Interests
I do like to socialize a lot however depending on the ambiance I also very much enjoy quiet, relaxing nights at home or at a bar with friends. I used to play hockey when I was younger and it still remains my favourite sport. Health and fitness has been a key point in my life for a few years now and I dedicate a lot of my time to eating properly and training. Of course when I travel this lifestyle is much more difficult to maintain :p

Music, Movies, and Books
I've consistently liked classic rock throughout my life however I now listen to a lot of rap or hip-hop. Some of my favourite artists at the moment include Childish Gambino, J.Cole, Daft Punk and Kendrick Lamar.
As for books, I am currently reading Plato's the Republic and have recently finished The Brother's Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. My favourite book of all times is "Le Petit Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
As far as movies go my favourite is The Road. I also very much enjoyed Interstellar, Pacific Rim, Inglourious Basterds and Dark Knight. Lord of the Rings is a given, I also read the books after I saw the movies. I also like the original Star-Wars movies (Han definitely shot first)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I recently went on a 160km bike trip from Ulm to Bregenz with a couple a friends I made in Germany. I decided to go on the trip despite my concerns about what would happen and it ended up being one of the best trips of my life. I found Bodensee to be absolutely stunning and the weather was excellent. Next time I will need to bring sunscreen though (oops).
Teach, Learn, Share
Back home I am a TA (teacher's assistant) for the first year chemistry students. If you have any non-meth related chemistry questions, I would be happy to answer them. Actually, even if it's meth related that's ok ;)
When I am abroad however, I am the one learning. I am very open-minded and can easily see things from many perspective. I strive to learn from everyone I meet, as I truly believe that everyone has something to teach. Right now my main focus is German, language and culture. I am interested by every culture though and I love to learn about each one.
What I like to share is mainly food (I like to try new things and to make people try new things).
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share conversation and laughter :D I am also a mediocre cook but I do sometimes keep maple syrup candies on me for the locals :p
