ABOUT US

I am Jerold, 69, and my husband, Ian, is 49. We have been blessed with a unique and rewarding life.

We enjoy traveling and have primarily done so in North America and Europe, as well as the South Pacific. We have family and friends in Italy plus many other friends in France, Greece, and The Netherlands.

We currently reside in Washington State at the base of Mt. Rainier in a beautiful rain forest near the main entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park. The place is nothing fancy; it's a cabin-like home we’ve owned for almost 15 years but used for weekend get-a-ways until 5 years ago. While we travel a great deal, we always love having guests when we're home at the mountain, so come and breath in some mountain air and experience the magnificent beauty of Mt. Osborne (view off our back deck) and Mt. Rainier.

PHILOSOPHY

Life on this earth is a bit short, so we really have to accomplish what we can in our own way (big or small, significant or merely to please ourselves)- and enjoy life to its fullest, even though challenges may come our way!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We’ve couchsurfed several times as well as hosted and we love meeting people from around the world.

Interests

Travel, reading, hiking, snow shoeing, theatre, Belgium beers, wines from around the world (including exquisite wines from Washington and Oregon), a properly made manhattan, organic food, tingling conversation (and I'll talk politics and religion), vibrant personalities, cooking with friends and family. Ian is Sicilian and cooks traditional Italian cuisine all the time. We also enjoy preparing cuisine from around the globe.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jerold;
Performed on stage and television in a variety of performances as a child and teenager...river boated more than 30 rivers in the western U.S....sky-dived from 13,000 feet in Italy at age 64...and simply enjoyed so many special moments that life has presented to me.

Ian;
I swam in a pod of 25 wild dolphins in Hawaii, I worked in a palace for a Prince one summer, I recorded 11 albums as a back up singer, and cooked at the James Beard House in New York City with my chef.

We enjoy bringing gifts from our local area. We are always willing to be good guests by cleaning up, following house rules, having general respect and sharing our lives while learning from our hosts when possible.
