Overview
About Me
We (Jessica & Matt) quit our jobs last year to travel and haven't looked back. It's been an amazing adventure. We've seen some fantastic sites, but the best experiences are getting to know people all over the world - from our Thai host in Issan to a Welsh couple we pet/house sit for in Turkey..so many great memories, stories and conversations we reminisce about,
We are a laid back couple who would love to check out the city with our hosts or get some drinks one night but also happy to explore on our own.
We have unofficially couch surfed (see our references) a bunch and officially couch surfed a few times. Wether we meet people through couch surfing or meet ups, a city/town is always better when you get to know local people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
There is a difference between visiting a place and EXPERIENCING it. We want to get to know places through their people and their perspective on their city.
We travel to learn about other cultures, ideas, and history -- you know, the real history, not the 2 paragraphs in our history books. We want to meet new people, experience new things.
Let's hang out, have fun, and talk sports, pop culture, play some card games, grab a beer/coffee/glass of wine, wander the city
Interests
Food, beer (we're from Portland, home of IPAs!), history, culture, outdoors, travel (of course!), local meet-ups/events, museums, art, zumba, pilates/yoga/fusion, boardgames, card games (we've learned a bunch of new games at hostels/couch surfing stays)
