About Me

ABOUT ME

I love to garden, hike, camp, cook with friends. I try to always have an adventure on the horizon, but spend a lot of weekends at home working on projects.

PHILOSOPHY

There are a lot of different ways to do things. I try to listen before I give advice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My husband, Jacob, and I really enjoy hosting and meeting new people. We've made some friends in the area as well as connections with people just passing through.

Interests

I stay active with things like dance (Jacob and I are learning lindy hop), partner acrobatics, bicycling, and Pilates. I also like to write letters, and play piano. I'm working hard to become fluent in Spanish.

Music, Movies, and Books

A few of my favorite authors are Toni Morrison, David Sedaris, Shirley Jackson, Jhumpa Lahiri.

I am not very picky with music, but some of my favorites are Paul Simon, Tallest Man on Earth, Nora Jones, Tracy Chapman. I have a major weak spot for soul music or anything good for dancing. I also have a couple of favorite random records I've found at used record stores.

I watch more TV series than movies. Our favorites are Battlestar Galactica, Arrested Development, Chuck, Lost, The Office, and several others. I also have been watching a couple of Spanish series: El Tiempo entre Costuras and Gran Hotel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On a hike in the Eastern Sierras in California, we happened on a waterfall that had dried enough in late summer that it no longer rushed down the mountain, but formed perfect, clear swimming holes that allowed you to swim right up to the edge and look over the drop off to the San Joaquin river valley. It was totally unexpected and I love swimming, so it's right up there with my favorite days.

Teach, Learn, Share

We're always happy to share dinner with guests. We also love the excuse to explore new places and revisit old favorites.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Romania, United Kingdom
