About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be present, in the moment, "awake", as the Buddhists say. To get as much out of every experience as I can.

ABOUT ME

About 40 years ago I found an abandoned warehouse in a little town on the banks of Lake Michigan which I bought and turned into a restaurant, realizing a lifelong dream. I have four kids, seven grandkids, a beautiful life partner, and the sweetest dog in the world (with the possible exception of yours). One of my daughters is running the restaurant now, giving me wonderful time to travel, sail, make music and enjoy life. Life is good.

PHILOSOPHY

All you need is love - love people, love nature, love every living thing and a few cherished possessiions - love life in all its variety.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now my living quarters (an apartment over my restaurant) is a bit small to accomodate guests, so for now I'm mostly interested in surfing and getting to know other people in other places.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I got a chance to couchsurf all around England a few years ago, courtesy of a friend who grew up there. It was fantastic, getting to know my hosts, being shown their favorite sights. I'm hoping for some more such experiences.

Interests

Music is my great love. I play guitar, mandolin and banjo and enjoy playing and singing with others. I also dabble in oil painting and writing, and like to sail. Love old movies, but, then, doesn't everybody?

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy most kinds of music, particularly string band, jug band, some jazz, some rock, blues, some classical, some country. I'm addicted to movies, particularly those heavy on character and relationships.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The 60's.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to give lessons on guitar, mandolin and banjo, probably at a biginner/intermediate level.
