About Me

Hi! My name is Jimmy Huang and I'm an energetic dude that just graduated in Economics from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. I'm working on the 9-5 grind right now so I'll be busy during the week, but after work hours and on the weekends I love exploring around the city and finding new stuff to do!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I wanted to do this last year as a traveller when I was backpacking all over Thailand, Japan, and China but I ended up at hostels instead because I wanted to meet other travellers more. But... I've always thought it'd be fun being a host and seeing different people with different perspectives from all over come by so this is a new experience for me too!

Also I've always believed that once you start falling into a habit, months could start flying by because your mind's not actively processing new information. You'll start getting complacent and it'll feel like you're just an automaton going through the motions... so I guess I want to try new things and meet tons of interesting new people by hosting them to break up habit-forming tendencies, haha

Music, Movies, and Books

FAVOURITE BOOKS:
Crime and Punishment - Dostoyevsky, Game of Thrones (as well as the rest of the ASOIAF books) - Martin, A Farewell to Arms - Hemingway, Catch-22 - Heller, Augustus: The Life of Rome's First Emperor - Everitt, and lastly anything by Anton Chekhov.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2012 I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro! It was an amazing experience, a bunch of friends and I volunteered at a orphanage when we visited Tanzania. We taught some of the children and cooked meals for them in the month I lived there. We also went on a safari in the Ngorogoro Crater and that was an unforgettable experience.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a wide array of passions from philosophy to economics to literature to history (especially Roman history)! I love learning and I love getting to know different people as well as sharing laughs.
