About Me

I am from China, I study in Singapore and I am now an exchange student in the US!

I study Information Systems/Computing. But my favorite topics expand really wide - film, culture, food. I do not know much about politics, but recently I found it terribly interesting!

I am not professional of any sports, but amateur of many - swimming, tennis, badminton and aerobics. I would love to learn soccer if there is a sunny afternoon and you would like to teach!

I love traveling because I get to see new places, understand new cultures, and meet new people. Part of that excitement is from the unpredictable nature of traveling. I might not enjoy blue cheese because I never had a chance to try it - not until my US friends insisted me trying. (Although I still don't appreciate the cheese,) I found it is an excellent chance to explore the unknown (both about the world and myself!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am new to Couchsurfing. I joined because I believe there is another way of traveling, a way that I do not need to regret for the hours I spent in a hostel. I want to experience every part of the place I travel, especially how the local people live and how they view their city. I do not want to be restricted as a tourist who follows every tip given in the Lonely Planet. I would prefer a local bar, with the world's loveliest roasted mutton and home-brewed wine, yet only known to the local residents.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed for the first time in Mexico during the Spring Break 2015! The experience was so amazing that I could not wait to surf again! Thank you Ho at Mexico City and Camina & Esteban at Puebla for making my first couchsurfing experience so memorable!

And I CouchSurfed again with Iwka & Dario Honey Badger and Duncan in Easter weekend 2015. I am so lucky to have such a nice chat with Duncan and I am sure I will catch up with the honey badgers in your future world trip! I am now a die-hard CS member for the amazing people I have met and the invaluable love and friendship they have offered.

Interests

I love animals. I like visiting museums. I enjoy good food. I love to have comfortable chatting with friends. I love making new friends because it excites me when we found similarities (and differences too!) I love hearing stories and sharing stories! ( I really cannot decide which one I love more =P)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I love music that fits in the mood. But I love Joe Hisaishi all the time. And I am in a crash with a music brand - YG Entertainment, Korea. I love almost all its artists - BigBang, 2NE1, Akdong Musician, etc.

Movies - Farewell My Concubine, "exactly" and "deeply" Chinese as it does not dramatize as Zhang Yimou's productions.

Books - Pride and Prejudice is my favorite novel. The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck, you would not want to miss out this one!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trip to Tibet
There had been fear and doubt, altitude sickness was real. However when I saw pilgrims performing full body prostrations in Lhasa, I knew I was not the only attracted. Scene, cuisine, music, the way people treat each other, everything was so different from what I have experienced, yet all-together they made the perfect match.

Tibet definitely exceeds my expectation. Above the breath-taking views (Yamdrok Lake is my favorite), I am grateful for the people I have met - trip mates and I found each other online and were totally strangers before we met in Lhasa. After the trip we were bothers and sisters. Tibetan drivers - we found them through an agency, yet they were not doing a business with us. They treated us as friends, not as newly met but as long lost friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like learning about other people's experiences not only in traveling but in their lives, everyone has an interesting story to tell.
