ABOUT ME
I'm Janie! I'm 24 years old, graduated Uni 2 years ago so I am now free to travel full time- instead of the part time lifestyle I had before. I love random adventures to weird places with wonderful people. Im bubbly and cheery to the point of absurdity. Living in Airlie Beach for 18 months.
Started traveling and like everyone else couldn't stop. I spent 4 summers traveling through Europe. I've WOOFed on a farm in southern France for 2 months. I've worked at 3 hostels in Europe (in Croatia Hungary and Turkey ). I studied and lived in France for 5 months- and taught at French preschool! I've nannied all over the world and made a lot of money as a travel nanny- in London, in Amsterdam, belgium, Paris, Tuscany, and the nanny for an aussie reggae band while they toured to festivals! I lived and traveled in Nepal for 6 months last year as I was doing research on rural education. I now have my own education non profit in Nepal and live there 6 months of the year. Aus is the 35th country I've been too.
I'm in love with the outdoors, sailing specifically. I raced big boats when I was younger, and dingys at uni, but am really into the cruising lifestyle. Injured distance runner, avid hiker and lover of adventure. I can't handle a day without being active outside. Or a beer.
Every day needs a beer.
PHILOSOPHY
"The best people in the world are on the move, and all you can do is take their hand and run."
"Traveling in the purest form of rebellion"
Random adventures to weird places with wonderful people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Surfed all over Europe summer of 2012 and met up with some guests in Nashville while living there. Also used Couch-surfing to meet up with people around Europe the past 3 summers. For awhile I ran a little "couchsurfing hostel" in Airlie beach which I named hilltop hobos :) haha . Hosting multiple random people who can all become family. Hilltop hobos was lots of fun, including family dinners (we love surfers who are willing to cook!) movie nights, trips to the waterfalls, walking the dog at the beach, sailing races, and fun nights out! Unfortunately I moved from that amazing busy chaotic friendly apartment to a place where I cannot host as frequently or in as large numbers as I was previously. But still try to stay involved in this community as much as I possibly can.
Interests
I studied child development with a minor in French. Working with kids is my passion, but I also have a love for languages and cultures. Additionally, I spend a lot of my time running and enjoying the outdoors. Sailing is a large passion that I hope to turn into a lifestyle.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Riding a camel caravan in the sahara desert at sunset
Living with a rural Moroccan family for 2 weeks without electricity, water, bathrooms, beds, and all other common amenities.
Kayaking in a lake in Guatemala surrounded by beautiful towering volcanoes on all sides
Lived in a rural village in the hills of Nepal for over a month. I was the first outsider to visit the village.
A 2 week intensive sailing course all over south Florida.
That's more than 1 but too bad.
