About Me
Hi there! I'm just a curious cat looking for new adventures. I'm much of an introvert, and as such I do need my time alone to recharge my batteries, but I do enjoy interesting conversations, especially with people from different cultural settings than mine.
I've enjoyed quite an eclectic path, so far, having attended a Conservatory of Music for 9 years. It does seem like ages ago, but that has forever shaped my love of Music and the Performing Arts. Oh, and I just graduated from Medical School.
PS: If you get me somewhere with coffee, there's a high chance we'll be best friends.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Although I have just signed up, I'm not new to Couchsurfing, because I've already surfed a couple of times with my boyfriend (through his profile), so I figured it was about time to make my own. We've only had great experiences with Gisela (AT), Sebastian (CL), Rudolf (CH), Karen (CH) and Flo (FR).
I think couchsurfing is an amazing social and cultural experiment, as the input from a local can be invaluable.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - I do listen to a wide range of stuff, from classical (can't get enough of Brahms, Wagner, Dvorak) to electronic, passing through my love of post-punk, post-rock, progressive rock, symphonic metal, doom metal, neofolk and new age. But of course you're welcome to check out what I've been listening to: http://www.last.fm/pt/user/Cryosotis
Movies - Lately I've been binging on TV series mostly, but I do enjoy three categories of movies - that provoke some thought; are historically interesting; or are not at all plot-driven but allow me to indulge in some kick-ass photography and soundtrack.
Books - My favorite authors at the moment are Virginia Woolf, Leo Tolstoy, Neil Gaiman, Victor Hugo, Sándor Márai and Thomas Mann. For more details, feel free to follow me here https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/4592166-joana. I can never get too many recommendations!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
That's a very subjective topic but I've attended the Erasmus programme for 5 months in Prague (CZ) and done a placement in Palermo (IT) for 3 months (I do speak a bit of Italian, although I'm not fluent).
Teach, Learn, Share
The most important thing is just exchanging ideas about travelling, life experiences, the country I'm visiting, my own country, our different cultures and languages.
