Hi! I'm Joana, a 21-year-old (almost 22!) medical student. A wise man once said "The doctor who only knows Medicine not even Medicine knows." (Abel Salazar) and I couldn't agree more! I think that in order to be more humane, we have to see how different people live and immerse ourselves in different cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've always loved travelling but I always thought that something was missing. A few years ago I was thining about how turists in my hometown miss out on some great places because they're not on travel guides and only locals know about it. From there I started to wonder how many great places have I missed out on because I didn't know they existed.

So, for me, couchsurfing seems like a great opportunity to really discover more about other countries and cultures.

Interests

I love reading (although I either don't read for 6 months or read 2 books in a day, there's no in-between), travelling, listening to music and learning new languages so I can read more books in their original language (this is still a work in progress!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Compared to what I've seen in some profiles my amazing thing seems a bit insignificant but a few years ago I was staying at a friend's house in a wooded area. At around 11a.m. we decided to go explore the woods and only came back at the end of the afternoon. We found so many beautiful places hidden in the woods and some gorgeous butterflies too!
