Overview
About Me
I am one of the many foreign English teachers here in Japan. Unlike them, I don't pretend to not know what I'm doing; I really don't know what I'm doing. But I am also eager to learn so any opportunity I can get to immerse myself in the culture and learn new things I take with a youthful joy that belies my true age.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Inexpensive travel during my tenure as a teacher.
Interests
I like playing video games. I enjoy fighting games the most, although I'm not very good at them. I figured coming to Japan and playing at game centers would improve my skills but the closest one to me is an hour away and driving that far just to get my ass kicked is only marginally worth it.

Music, Movies, and Books
My musical tastes change by the week. Right now, I'm feeling Taro Hakase. Last week it was Kendrick Lamar. Before that Streetlight Manifesto. Who knows what it'll be a week from now.
Lately I've been reading a lot of interviews with game developers. Jeff Pobst and the folks at Hidden Path as well as some Japanese developers like ZUN and Yoshirou Kimura. I'd like to get in the game development industry myself so their insight is valuable.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I learned to sing Tsugaru Kaikyou Fuyugeshiki. I can't hit the notes quite as well Ishikawa Sayuri but I think my performance is spirited.

What I Can Share with Hosts
Until I meet them and know what it is they're looking for, I can't say for sure. If nothing else, I can share a story and some laughs. I think that's good enough for a start.
