About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Be a Host; and Get Hosted

ABOUT ME

Hi Everyone, I'd like to consider myself an open-minded, creative, dedicated individual who likes to meet new people and try new things. I love how Couchsurfing fosters a growing sense of "internationalism". On a personal note, I love how meeting international people challenges me to refine my worldview and try new things.

PHILOSOPHY

To me, I'm an intellectual at heart. I love to think and get some certainty before I act. However, as for greater philosophy, I'm mostly an existentialist. I believe that reality is constructed in many diverse ways to many diverse people. Thus, the best thing you can do is be self-aware, and communicate your thoughts to others.Beyond that, I really do value honesty, loyalty, respect, and (most importantly) communication.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently, I'd love to do some surfing as I visit friends back in the United States. In the next year or so, I want to refine my social media skills, and host online forums, debates, etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing seems like a great way to meet people. However, in my opinion, it's only for the outgoing, patient and open-minded.

Interests

I love going to the beach, walking, jogging, weight-training at the gym, hiking, reading, computer games, etc. Most of all, I love meeting new people. Nothing is better than meeting people from all walks of life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 16, I started a non-profit (a glorified community service project) that helped deliver a lot of clothes and goods around Southern California. The idea that some people who didn't have much got to eat and live better, if only temporarily, makes me feel better about myself. Since then, I've started two other community service projects (and handed them off to dedicated people). I hope more will come.

Teach, Learn, Share

By profession, I'm a researcher and teacher. I love the complex negotiation of both fields. Research helps me find out the mysteries of the universe into a clear, tangible, answer. Unfortunately, it gets so boring, solitary, etc. that it's hard to do. Nothing beats being able to go out and teach that material to dedicated students. However, excessive preparation for teaching gets boring and exhausting after 20+ hours a week. Thus, I like both fields so much and hope I can one day be an international professor.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think my best friend, Christine Khuat, speaks of me as an interesting, unconventional, creative person. I'd love to meet new people, ask questions about their experience and the culture, and simply have fun.
