About Me

DO NOT MESSAGE ME IF YOU HAVE NOT READ MY PROFILE. I will respond with, “please read profiles” ;)

Please Note: **I ONLY HOST COUPLES OR MEN. NO SOLO/GROUP FEMALE TRAVELERS. If you request, I will not accept. Thank you for you attention and respect of this.

Hi! My name is Joey. But you probably already knew that by clicking on my profile. I've grown up most of my life in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon in what I think I one of the most beautiful places in the world. The Pacific North West. I'm a Videographer and Editor, who also coaches volleyball on the side and prefers to get lost on a mountain or in another country whenever possible. Most recently I have just moved to Thailand to do content media/marketing at an international school in Bangkok.

I'm located in the suburbs of Bangkok, but also decently close to the city center. While living here this will be my first opportunity to host people on Couchsurfing and it's something I have been wanting to do for quite a while to give back to the wonderful people who have hosted me over the years. I need to be honest however... between my job at the school, travel and spending time with my beautiful fiance’ I don’t always have a ton of free time to spend with those that I host. If there are group activities that you can join in or a chance to grab a bite I hope that I will be able to spend some time hearing your stories and learning about your story... but if that is not the case and you see me very little I apologize for that. If you are looking for a host who will have ample time to show you around and hang out, I’m sad to say you might need to look elsewhere. I hope that you understand. :) To confirm that you have actually read my profile and understand this please include the phrase “Yes, I understand I might not see you much” in your response. Looking forward to meeting you soon hopefully!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To share God’s love with others, explore new places, meet new people, learn about different cultures, and hopefully give back in the same ways that I have been generously given too. Simple as that.

I have had the privilege of meeting some of the most amazing people ever while Couchsurfing on my travels and they have only further enriched my life in so many ways. It really is true that you don't actually get to truly see a place that you travel to unless you see it through the eyes of someone who lives there. I deeply believe one of the main reasons we're here on this earth is to show love to the people I encounter.

Music, Movies, and Books

All kinds of music, I'm a firm believer that life is better lived with a soundtrack.
If you haven’t heard of the band Safetysuit or The Oh Hellos you should definitely look them up!

Reading is an often neglected passion but a few must reads would be “the road less traveled” by M. Scott Peck, “You and Me Forever” by Francis Chan and “Now I see: An Invitation to Life to the Full” by Zach Elliot. I love reading books that other people recommend or that are important to them for a particular reason.

Don't even get me started on movies. This is a sensitive subject since I am a film major, some people say it ruins movies for them for the rest of your life, I say it makes me able to find at least a little bright spot or value in any movie. Some of my favorites are Mrs. Doubtfire, I-Robot, and the TV shows The Office and Friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can tell you plenty of things about photography/videography or any questions you might possibly have in that field. I also know a lot of random things... things that probably have no use to you specifically... so maybe there is something there as well.

Learn: Like many people I feel the best way to experience life is with a deep thirst for knowledge. So honestly I would love to learn more about your culture, your traditions, your family, things you have learned during your time wandering the planet, amazing things you have seen, and so on.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully I can share a smile, some laughs, a reasonably comfortable place to sleep, some travel ideas/ insights, some encouragement, a shower, and some AC if the electricity bill isn't too bad so far this month ;)

Countries I’ve Visited
