Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To experience as much as I can while I'm here on this planet.
ABOUT ME
I like to have fun and laugh. I love to have conversations about almost everything and I love hearing different perspectives on things.
PHILOSOPHY
The more we experience all different kinds of people, the easier it is to see that we're all one.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love couchsurfing! It's great that there is such a healthy organization designed to help connect people around the world.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted several people and have had nothing but great experiences. I haven't been a guest yet but am looking forward to it.
Interests
I love to play and listen to music. I play percussion in a Cuban Son band, and I play bluegrass banjo. I love learning about everything. I love being outside in nature, camping, birdwatching, canoeing, etc. I love science and I teach at a local college. I'm interested in pretty much everything: languages, politics, economics, people, history. Having conversations with people from different places is one of my favorite things.
I like playing sports, especially beach volleyball.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love folk music and dance, where there isn't a big separation between the musicians and the 'audience'. I like films with interesting plots and characters more than films with fancy special effects (though I like those sometimes). I like films by Pedro Almodovar. I liked Antonia's Line, Like Water for Chocolate, Il Postino, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been charged by a grizzly bear in Alaska.
Teach, Learn, Share
I enjoy taking people around to see things around santa cruz. Sharing stories and perspectives on the world is one of my fav things. I can teach about California plants and animals, where to see them, etc. I can teach about early human skills, like making fire without matches, stone tools, etc.
Countries I’ve Visited
Argentina, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru
