About Me

I'm back in Vancouver after several years abroad. I'd love to meet up with other travelers (or travelers-to-be!) and chat. I've done a lot of different types of travel, too - resort/package, bicycle tours, backpacking, living a semi expat lifestyle when I worked as a divemaster, etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here to meet new people from all over the world both socially and as a host or guest. I've been to a few meet-ups in Europe, US and Asia.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music. My kind of music is whatever has a good hook and is easy to sing along to. This means a lot of bad pop music, to be honest, but I also really enjoy bluegrass and electronic music.

Movies. I go through phases where I watch a lot of movies, but it seems like my tastes ebb and flow - sometimes I am really into bad horror movies, sometimes I really enjoy intelligent independent films, sometimes I just want to sit back and get my eyes blown away by a stupid extravagant action movie.

Books. While I'm traveling, I like to have books I can read for many hours (for long bus rides or waiting in airports, etc), and I enjoy nerdy books I can get easily. The last few months, I read all of the Game of Thrones books. Right now I'm working on To Kill and Mockingbird and a Korean novel called Please Look After Mother.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I biked through Southeast Asia a couple of years ago, the roads in Laos were so bad that I mostly ended up traveling the same distance in a day as my friends who were riding buses. They were pretty impressed. I was pretty impressed with myself, too.

Teach, Learn, Share

I worked as a divemaster on an island in Thailand, so I'm more than happy to share my experiences and 'expertise' in scuba diving.

I also bicycle toured quite a bit (New Orleans to Minneapolis, Frankfurt to Paris to London, and all over Southeast Asia). I'd like to think that I figured a few things out through those trips - I would love to convince you to start bike touring yourself (it's easier than you might think!)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you how to land a perfect high five every time.
