About Me

HI,

I'm Johnson- based in Alleppey,/Alappuzha , Kerala, India. I run a guesthouse, Johnson's homestay ecohouseboat' listed in the Lonely Planet, booking.com, hostelworld, etc.

I am 62 years old and like to think that I'm an easy going laid back individual who loves fun, cricket, foot ball (Real Madrid) and "Beer". Love to host cheerful guests who visit us with a smile and leave with one as well.

At present, my main passion in life is to complete my 'epic historical philosophical fiction novel', an ongoing project and future worldwide bestselling debut novel :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to travel. Have travelled extensively in India over the last few years, from the base of the Himalyas to the desert dunes of Jaisalmar to Varanasi, Hampi to Pondicherry, Manali to Goa and wherever else in India- I've been there.

Now, I wish to spread my wings further and explore horizons around the world. I reckon Couchsurfing is a great way to source accommodation and friends.

An aspect I do not like about CS is the 'culture exchange' that some members try to pound into their hosts. Learning about each other's culture, making friends is all fine, but let's all accept that the overriding reason for the very existence of CS is that it is probably the only way to source free rooms - with very few wonderful exceptions of those (budget or not) who join CS for the real essence of what it is. I've met some really nice people - and xperienced the displeasure of meeting more than a few bad apples as well.

I must admit that since I do not use CS as a guest myself, not yet leastways, I may ask u 4 a favor with regard to my guesthouse- Johnson's homestay ecohouseboat

Music, Movies, and Books

Music

I love music - all genres.

Bruce Lee's 'Enter the Dragon'. It got me interested in martial arts, an interest that is ongoing. James Cameron's 'Avatar' - loved the imagery. 'Silence of the Lambs', 'Dead Poet's Society', 'Eight' and most other Brad Pitt movies except 'Babel' which is purely racist, are faves. Quentin Tarantino's 'Django', is the recent last 'wow' on my list. And, like a zillion others, I am also a Johnny Depp fan.

I used to read mostly trash novels in my teens and early twenties, then fell off the habit for a long time, until I decided - out of the blue one fine day- to start writing my own book. Now I read - have to, because if helps my writing. I try to read books on various themes. Although I must confess that I rarely find a book to keep my interest right through to the end.

I love animals and keep pets- cats, dogs.

I also love sports, so if CR7 is kicking Messi's butt, expect the beers to be on the house! Can't believe how many Europeans do not like Cristiano - mostly jealousy, I reckon :) Of course, like all Indians, I love cricket as well. There I go, on and on about sports.... :) I also love to talk to my CS guests on the thesis of my book - of how to live the perfect life. Any ideas? Let's debate.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trekked up to the crest of the 'Valley of flowers'. Google ' Valley of flowers' for images of this wonderful valley atop a cliff at the base of the Himalayas. Believe me, it looks better when you lay your eyes on it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I yearn to travel to other countries in future.
