About Me

Currently working my way through Australia on working holiday! I've spent most of my life in a few towns in Ontario (Canada), but spent my "formative" years in Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, BC. I was working at a university in Canada in a job that was becoming stifling, so when my latest contract ran out I didn't renew it and decided to make my way out in the world more. Just finished travelling around Eastern Europe and SE Asia. Pescatarian (vegetarian + fish), but not a picky eater by any means.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been travelling for a little while now, and have been finding it can get exhausting to meet big groups of new people constantly in hostels, when really I end up connecting with only one or two people. So, I'm looking to make some closer connections to a more manageable number of people (that would be my introverted side talking) while getting a closer look at the places I'm staying. Also trying to find ways to stretch my dollar a bit more, let's be honest.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: alt rock/pop, folk (currently listening to Grimes, Marina & the Diamonds, Arcade Fire, Feist, Dan Mangan, Radiohead, White Stripes, Yelle, Sufjan Stevens). Oh and showtunes, but I don't push that on people

Movies: anything by Wes Anderson or Hayao Miyazaki. And Clue.

Book: anything by Kurt Vonnegut, Joan Didion, Douglas Coupland, or Haruki Murakami right now

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Eaten a Chioptle-sized burrito (1 lb., 4 oz. or 566 grams) in 82 seconds. Medium-hot spiciness.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I still remember some Taekwondo, the basic steps to swing dance + a few fun moves, I can make a few really tasty recipes, and I can share any of my language abilities (even if it's just a few words).

Learn: any new skills! The more obscure, the better. Or the history of wherever I am visiting.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am currently travelling with my external hard drive, which has about 35GB of music on it that I can happily share, plus a bunch of movies.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Thailand, United Kingdom, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
