About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Live with no regrets; getting out of the comfort zone!
ABOUT ME
Hey all. Born and raised in Edinburgh, I'm an open-minded, laid-back guy, who is really interested in meeting people and experiencing different cultures from around the world.
Been in living in Australia for over a year and currently living in Perth, working as a doctor.
At times we feel rather 'trapped' within our seemingly never-ending working days and lives. Travelling is therapeutic - releasing yourself into the unknown is energizing and witnessing another culture is inspiring. Love the rush of booking a flight to any random destination at the last minute. I much prefer local knowledge over travel guides for a genuine reflection of a city.
I aspire to meet new people but also to try and connect - to see how we differ and yet how similar we are. Communicating with people from other cultures enables me to learn their perspective and about myself.
PHILOSOPHY
- Don't be trapped by dogma
- Your job is what you do, not who you are
- Collect moments and memories, not Things
- Embrace yourself
- Live simply
- Live in the moment
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
During my travels I aim to meet with locals to get to know the new place better, and make cultural exchanges.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None thus far. Only recently mustered the courage to actually write a proper profile!
In my travels I try to avoid places where organised tourists group together. Prefer to see hidden gems and off the beaten-path places, than crowded touristic attractions which are more 'tick-boxing'.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Witnessing the hully karst landscape of Guilin at sunset by the banks of the Li River. Also cycling within this area and meeting villagers who are more content with the simple country life.
Teach, Learn, Share
What can I teach? Some slang, food and Scottish/Chinese cultures. Perhaps the art of sarcasm? Can cook a good proper Chinese meal!
