Overview
About Me
My name is Joe and I am from Ohio. I am a recent graduate from Virginia Tech where I studied Political Science and Cinema. I enjoy golf, skiing (snow and water), and love movies. I have a huge palate so there are few foods I don't like once I try them, but I LOVE Mexican food. I am allergic to nuts (not peanuts, they're a legume) but for all the other foods in the world, I can live with being intolerant of one of them.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am hoping to travel the US on a tight budget so I was hoping to meet and stay with new people rather than in hotels.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite movies are Little Miss Sunshine, and In the Mood for Love. I love all kinds of music except country, I am on a big hip hop kick right now so I love J. Cole, Kendrick, Joey Bada$$, Chance the Rapper, Childish Gambino and several others, but I my favorite band of all is Arcade Fire. My favorite book is probably Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing that I have done is speak to an audience inside the Capitol building. I got to stand on the house floor and read a speech to other students while in the presence of a few congressmen. The story is pretty wild so I'll save the details for later.
Teach, Learn, Share
I used to be a scratch golfer so I do know quite a lot about improving one's swing and other important facets of the game. That is the thing I would be best at teaching since I have a lot of experience working on it myself. I also took piano lessons for 10 years but alas I have forgotten most of the pieces I played. Honestly, one of the major reasons I wanted to join Couchsurfers was so that I could learn from people. There are a lot of things I don't know and I want to meet new and interesting people who can give me their insights and teach me their tricks to life.
What I Can Share with Hosts
The things I can share are my knowledge of philosophy, politics, and film, which were the three main facets of my studies at VT. I love talking about philosophy and film about 50x more than politics but I did study PSCI as my major so I know a lot about how politics works.
