About Me

Hi, I have slept on many a couches in my 5 years of travels. Now I got a place 30 minutes out of Seattle with a spare room and a couch and I'd like to give back the love shared with me.

I've hitchhiked from Norway to Senegal, lived in a monastery, herded sheep, squatted in caves and built houses in Africa to name a few highlights.

Ready to leave for another adventure when the time comes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have never needed much more than good company and a couch to sleep on.

Interests

Philosophy, live music, dancing, beer, reading, piano, longboarding, rock climbing, slacklining, hiking, camping, flow arts, video games, food, people and different perspectives... blah, blah blah. Just meet me.
I hope to go scuba diving to conquer my phobia of dark water.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some recent and longer trends would be progressive trance, reggae, post rock, blues, jazz, indie, folk, intelligent rap and of course classical music.

Some of my favorite authors, Daniel Quinn, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Paulo Coelho, Thoreau, Camus, Hemingway, Philip K. Dick, Goethe, Bukowski, and Asimov.
Recently (2016), I been looking for some Murakami books.

04/2016 Started the Bhagavad Gītā.

Some recent favorites include, Whiplash, Seven Psychopaths, Grand Budapest Hotel, and Annie Hall.

More recently (2016), I've watched Boyhood. Probably, my new favorite movie. The Big Short was very thought provoking, as well as Spotlight. (Been catching up on my Oscar nominations)

More recently 2021
War & Peace, Brothers Karamazov, Emerson's Essays, Plutarch's Lives

Seven Psycopaths, Tales from the Loop,
Invincible, Sound of Metal, and Bliss.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I sold all my possessions and left home to travel. Have been on the road/trail hitchhiking, farming, and trekking mountains for about 2 years and have hitched all the way down Western Europe to The Gambia.

*I traveled for 5 years. Ended up staying in Africa for 4 years.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like challenging conversations. Come and break bread and let's learn about each others hearts and minds.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I grew up with a single mom and worked for everything I have had since I was 16 years old. I am a 2nd generation Korean American and grew up with a dualist cultural perspective. I can share any story or lessons from my life. I am an open book ready to be read or written in.

*this is still true in 2021
