Overview
About Me
I am happy, friendly, outgoing, and personable. I love the outdoors, socializing, enjoying live music, cooking delicious food, enjoying nice beer or wine, and having fun! I have spent over two years abroad traveling through Australia, Southeast Asia, Central and South America. I love experiencing local culture, historical components, viewing the changing landscapes, meeting new people, and widening my horizons pertaining to our place on this beautiful planet.
Current work:
I am working on a large scale ecological restoration project in the Ozark and Ouchita National Forests where I will perform an input-output economical analysis of the restoration project and the affects it has pertaining to monetary and environmental issue within the region. The end goal is to stimulate an area which recently experienced an economic downturn with added "green" jobs; a multitude of ecosystem services such as restored historical plant assemblages, increased wildlife habitat, reduced wild land fire risk, increased water quality, ecotourism, and an overall improvement on quality of life within these mountainous regions of Arkansas. Anyways, there is my current research project and M.S. thesis.
I am mostly interested in landscape ecology and finding sustainable ways to coop with our large consumption of earths finite natural resources while sustaining our natural resources and land usage in the most efficient manner.
Overall, my view on life is you make your situation what it is. I like to find the positive in situations and have experienced beauty in nearly all of the places I have visited.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on a graduate research assistantship with a low budget and looking to explore the south! More than happy to accept guests, though I find it unlikely people will be passing through the timberlands of Arkansas. I have traveled the world extensively and have many friends who have suggested couchsurfing. Considering this, I would like to give it a go. I expect to be more of a guest over the next two years until I eventually settle in a more ideal location.
Interests
I love almost anything outdoor orientated, mostly hiking, swimming, canoeing, and sight seeing. I also mountain bike and do a fair bit of bird watching. I like to go out for food, drinks, music, and exploring historical or artistic sites. I am a social person and love to meet new people while enjoying fun and productive conversations and personalities.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love almost all genres of music minus certain types of rap and country. Huge world music fan, blues, funk, reggae, rock, psychedelic, jam, bluegrass, or a nice fusion of any mentioned!
I read plenty of scientific literature and fiction when I find the time. I have loved "A Song of Ice and Fire Series," "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo," "Measuring the World," and any more. I am an avid reader and keep up with current national and global news.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A six day sail boat journey from Panama to Cartagena, Colombia while visiting the San Blas Islands in between.
Teach, Learn, Share
Happy to have intellectual and meaningful conversations at anytime. I am a good listener and always happy to hear peoples perspective on life or certain subject regarding our socioeconomic situation and general progressive or historical knowledge. I am happy to share some of my knowledge regarding ecology, biology, our heterogeneous landscapes and our anthropogenic attributes to land usage, conservation and sustainability. I am also interested in geography, current events, the histories of Gaius Julius Caesar, Ghengis Khan, the great explorer Captain cook, and beyond. Even further, I love to to talk about peoples expressions and feelings while also goofing around a bit.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share happiness, positivity, and hopefully some meaningful influence and socialization with hosts! I will also mention, I am quite the cook with a diverse range of ethnic foods ready to be enjoyed.
I can be as independent as necessary or company; whichever is preferred by the host. I will be grateful for a place to crash and it is all I truly expect.
