About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enter a Monestary, travel in parellel universes or something equally interesting

ABOUT ME

I have three homelands; Maine, Nova Scotia and Ecuador/Peru. That makes me a Yankee, a Canadian and a Gringo. I should also note that I was born in North Carolina, so I guess I am additionally one of those people who refuses to admit that the South was the evil party during the Civil War.

I should also note that:
I am pretty low maintenance. I read alot. I love pictionary and spades. I tend to get up early and go to bed before midnight, unless festivities are underfoot. I drink hot water straight. I am not a big fan of fraternizing, in the drunken "look at those titties" sense, although drunken samaruai shenanigans is a completely different story. I tend to be vegetarian unless it is local or prepared with "love". I like to walk between destinations.

That should be enough for a conversation starter.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in contentment, compassion, creativity, honesty, humbleness and humor.
(I also apparently believe in Cs and Hs)

OH! and I believe in "The Epic"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

People are good. Meeting people is good. I am new to couch surfing but a long time believer in goodness.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Last summer I lived in my VW bus outside a small Bungalow in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The experience opened up new doors into a city that I had lived in for six years. The house was a social hub for grass roots endeavors and redefined my conceptions of "local". We had couch surfers and friends of friends passing through consistently. It was good.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've realized that diesel doesn't burn at 5,500 meters while hiking in a desert. Then I spent the entire night freezing cold, watching the stars and (like almost everyone on couch surfing) enjoying a well earned sunrise.

I've built a twenty-five brick span that was 3" thick.

I walked around with a presumably wild woodpecker on my head for a day.

Teach, Learn, Share

I do dishes and design/build stuff. I am willing to help with anything, but usually I'm timid in assuming that I would be helpful. I'd really like to do some gardening right now.

Also, I'd be interested in learning to bake exotic breads and/or brew beer.
