About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To quit my job(s) and support myself as a silversmith. I know, I know...

ABOUT ME

I'm a quirky free-thinking vegetarian librarian/welder/organic gardener/amateur mechanic/amateur musician/musical instrument builder/biker/hiker. I fantasize about a simpler, slower-paced lifestyle, and to that end, plan to sell my house and downsize in the next year or two. I'm fascinated with alternative living arrangements - though I'm not sure if I want to build a cob house, live in a yurt, or live cheaply in the city in an old mill with 10 roommates.

I build all sorts of things, sometimes because I need them, sometimes because I want them and sometimes because it's christmas and making homemade presents takes less energy than shopping. I've built boats, banjos, lamps, beds, and I'm currently learning to work with silver in the hopes of making the perfect pair of eyeglass frames.

I'm very active. I have a hard time sitting still.

PHILOSOPHY

There are no answers. The most we can ever aspire to is learning to ask the right questions. Even that is a stretch.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to couchsurfing altogether. I've been biking a lot lately, with the aim of doing a cross-country ride in a year or two. This summer, I'd like to find some people within a day or two's ride of my home, to give me an excuse to do some overnight treks.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: mostly pre-1972. Too many to name.

Books (well, authors): Victor Hugo, Alexander Dumas, Herman Hesse, Walter Scott.

Movies: Foreign, Indie, Old. I could not name a single movie playing in the theaters right now. Really.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did a solo cross country trip in a 1967 Chevy Nova. I took a few months to just see the country, which amazed me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can cook (all vegetarian - almost vegan) I play instruments and build all sorts of things. I fix all sorts of things too.

I'm willing to learn just about anything anyone has to teach me.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
