I love to travel! I've been to 13 countries and 13 states - a reasonable start with a long ways to go! Currently working in San Francisco, CA. I spend many of my weekends hiking and/or planning my next trip. My family currently lives all over the United States, so most of my trips are to visit them. However, I don't know a lot of people outside of the country right now so I'm hoping to meet new people through this community. This is where I was in 2013: http://www.semesteratsea.org/voyages/spring-2013/ Japan, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, Burma, India, Mauritius, South Africa, Ghana, Morrocco, Spain. In 2016 I added Australia and New Zealand to the list. In 2017 I took the opportunity to travel to Iceland and France, meeting family in Paris for a few days. Later that year I visited Cabo, Mexico which was amazing despite it being a crowded by tourists. 2018 is off to a good start with Thailand and a ticket to Europe for the summer.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
For the longest time I thought I had to have family and friends where I was going so that I could afford to travel. This put a huge damper on some of the trips I had hoped to make. When I learned about CS it reinforced the reality that you don't have to be rich to travel. More importantly, the experiences you gain and the insight into culture from staying with a local instead of in a hotel doesn't even compare.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: alternative, classic rock, etc... plenty of others, it just depends on the environment. Movies: Rent, Runaway Jury, Juno, Wedding Crashers Books: You'll always find me on the travel aisle.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Visited 11 counties, helped move out of/sell our family home and graduated from University in a span of one year. Drove from San Francisco to Seattle alone. Maybe not the hardest thing ever, but I'm surprised how many people wouldn't do it.
Teach, Learn, Share
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. " -Mark Twain When I travelled internationally for the first time, I decided that the quote above was going to be my go to. For some reason I thought going abroad would help me check things off my unofficial bucket list, instead, I realized that I could never stop traveling. The list I thought I was checking off doubled instead.
What I Can Share With Hosts
I'm always happy to swap travel stories and learn about your home town, and one day soon I'll be able to return the favor and show you mine. I'm sure there are other things, but I don't know what type of things to list here.
My Interests
Hiking, road trips, travel... anything where you can see new countryside and be introduced to a new community is fun.
