About Me

Easygoing. Likes traveling by plane or by train, by books or by movies. Loves photographs and coffee. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a college girl in my early 20s who believes that there's so much more to discover about the world than what's inside libraries and the internet, and the best way to learn is through lived experiences, so I'm trying to balance my resources (time, money, energy) with being a practical "young adult" and being an idealistic "millennial" by traveling without necessarily breaking the bank while still hitting all my travel goals: to enjoy new experiences, meet new people, develop new friendships, discover more about myself, and come home a better, happier person. And that's why I'm on CouchSurfing — I think it's a cool, innovative avenue for providing all that to people like me. :)

Interests

Love taking photographs (and sometimes videos), long walks, and listening to podcasts. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Still love listening to my 90s-00s playlist, with a bit of 80s rock in there. Occasionally listens to the new songs if I happen to chance upon them on the radio, but I'm afraid that's as far as my contemporary music knowledge goes.

Hollywood movies mostly are entertaining, but what really gets me are the film fest selections and some quirky indies, especially those that incorporate such nuanced views regarding their sociocultural context.

For books, I mostly drown myself in poetry and consume short stories. Ever so often when I would have the time to read a novel, I stick to more "realistic" ones (so the YA dystopian trend really isn't doing it for me).
Albert Camus, Kurt Vonnegut, and F Scott Fitzgerald are my favorite novelists so far.
Really enjoyed reading Jose Saramago's Blindness, Salman Rushdie's Haroun and a Sea of Stories, and Stieg Larsson's Girl with a Dragon Tattoo — so much so that I finished each novel in a day's single sitting. ;)
Incredibly fond of Pablo Neruda, EE Cummings, TS Eliot, and John Donne, and am a fan of our very own Nick Joaquin, Gina Apostol, Jessica Hagedorn, Lysley Tenorio, and Sabina Murray.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling and exploring a new environment and taking in such new experiences all completely on my own always makes me feel most like my true happy self! :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Always available for a great conversation, and would be very open to helping you around the house with chores or even to accompany you in some errands some time so long as it ends with a good meal we'd share together, because I really want to get to know the area through a local's perspective. :) I have great dishwashing skills, for example, haha. Kidding aside, I make sure to always keep my area neat because I am a very tidy and organized person, especially when I'm traveling. Will most probably be out most of the time exploring, so if you're a busy homebody who appreciates your alone time, that can be discussed and I would be more than willing to respect your space and privacy too, if you are not interested in hanging out. :) Very easy to talk to, always amenable to compromises, just message me and we'll talk about it! :)
