About Me
Instagram: @miss.thomas.travels
I'm a 32 year old teacher, specialising in teaching students with disabilities.
I used to like to think I was a little wild and spontaneous... but the truth is I’m a lot more wildly organised than wildly spontaneous these days!
I have transitioned from party enthusiast, festival goer to a quiet dog-Mum, spend-most-evenings-on-the-couch kind of gal over the past 5 years. I still like the occasional night out, and about 3 times a year I will tag along to gay bars with one of my best friends.
I am easy going, get along with most people, and I enjoy meeting people from all backgrounds and walks of life.
I like to connect and explore culture through dining experiences, whether fine dining, home cooking, local haunts, street foods....
I grew up in the country but have spent 10 years living in Melbourne (AU). I like to think that I feel equally at home in the middle of nowhere or a bustling city. I still absolutely love the outdoors, and find that being in the beauty of nature is the best nutrition for my soul.
In August 2024 I am moving from Australia to Saudi Arabia for work. I am super excited about this adventure.
I am leaving my partner and my dog behind in Melbourne though, so it is definitely mixed feelings. I don't know anyone in KSA, so the idea of using this app to build new connections with like minded people is appealing.
In KSA, I will be in a long distance relationship (not single!).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In my early 20s my couchsurfing experiences introduced me to the most welcoming, kind hearted, like minded people...
Now in my 30s, I feel the desire to reconnect to this project. The world is feeling so divided, and (for women particularly) dangerous at the moment. At my core, I believe humanity is good and that we have more in common than we do differences. It is my hope that reconnecting with this lovely community will help to highlight the best of human connection.
Interests
I love learning, camping, travelling, hiking, taking pretty pictures, roadtrips, yoga, cooking or baking, the beach, music, food, exploring markets and vintage stores.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have road tripped around California.
Trekking and exploring in Bhutan was amazing.
In 2022 I lived and taught in a remote Aboriginal community in the Daintree Rainforest.
Teach, Learn, Share
Being an actual teacher, I’d say I’m pretty patient. Happy to help people that are learning English, as well as share yummy recipes and good food.
I’m going to attempt to learn some Arabic this year but I am actually shockingly bad at learning languages. I blame it on the big weekends of my 20s 🫠
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to share the cooking or a bottle of wine with hosts.
Sharing stories and connections.
