About Me

**This used to be a shared profile with my friend Julie. We used this profile while we backpacked in Europe. I have a personal CS page as well, you can find it by looking in the references for Amy Harrison. You will find more references there as well. I like to use this page because we connected with so many CSers through it!

CURRENT MISSION

To be immersed in a lot of different cultures, see the world and explore, live life to the fullest.

ABOUT ME

Julie is a hard-working and easy-going person who likes to have a lot of fun. She is optimistic and caring and always up for an adventure. She hopes to meet her soulmate while we are traveling Europe :) (haha just kidding.) I love the outdoors and I love sports. I've been wanting to travel to europe since i was in middle school, so i finally get to scratch that off my "bucket list." I absolutely love meeting new people and i hope from this couch surfing experience i will meet people whom i could call good friends.

Amy is a driven, fun, smart individual and also has a great sense of humor. She single-handly convinced me to travel three months with her to europe! She's an overall great person and I'm glad shes the one that I am going to be stuck with for three months! Amy loves the outdoors and is always ready to get up and go on a fun expedition! I am going back to school in autumn and will be studying marine biology. I love all things outdoors. I love animals and I truly appreciate the earth beneath our feet. I LOVE beaches and oceans. I am fascinated by the world that so many of us miss out on.. I love to see new landscapes, and Switzerland is one of my favorite places in the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Amy- I love to experience new things. I enjoy learning, whether the knowledge comes from mistakes I have made or things people share with me. I love traveling and meeting new people. nature is beauty and is meant to be appreciated, not disturbed.I think it's important to follow your dreams and the things you are passionate about.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed a lot more than I've hosted, but I love both! I think it's a great way to meet new people and learn about the world. I have hosted 4 times, you can see those references on my other profile. Most of my hosting was in NC. Now I live in Virginia and have not hosted or surfed since moving here! I also couchsurfed [with Julie] a lot while backpacking in Europe.

Interests

I'm really into nature. I love anything I can do outside- camping, biking, hiking, science, photography, etc.

I love meeting new people, talking, eating, hearing their life stories, learning about other countries and cultures, etc.

I love learning. I'm a big science nerd and marine biology major. I love anything to do with the ocean.

I am also a vegetarian. Raise my own chickens. Also have 2 turtles and 2 cats. I love animals.

Music, Movies, and Books

Both of us enjoy country music and we also enjoy dancing, especially at night clubs. We listen to lots of different music- pop, country, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amy:
Jumping off a bridge in Switzerland on something called a "Pendulum Swing". I freefell for about 3 seconds until my ropes caught and I swung from beneath the bridge for a few minutes. I have never felt a rush of adrenaline so strong and felt so scared and excited all at the same time.

Summiting my last mountain in Switzerland- Elsighorn. As I approached the peak, I realized it would be the last mountain I climbed before leaving Switzerland. It brought tears to my eyes, but it also made the peak that much more beautiful and wonderful. With my friends at my sides, I stood at the top, overlooking the Engsligen valley- where I had just spent the past 4 months, the town of Frutigen, and the Thunersee and Brienzersee, I felt completely content.
While kayaking in Florida with my mom, a manatee swam up to our boats and let us rub her back. It was one of the most incredible feels to be so connected to nature and to be able to see the peacefulness of one of our gentle giants!
