About Me

I love traveling and being outside! I care deeply for the environment and wild spaces. I work for the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming as a Natural Resource Specialist on the wildlife team, focusing on protecting and restoring critical habitat for certain threatened and endangered species (hawks, amphibians, bats, pollinators, lynx).

For 6 years, I worked seasonally in national parks and ski towns. I’ve lived and worked in Yellowstone, Glacier, North Cascades, Alaska, New Zealand, Big Sky, Grand Targhee, Jackson hole, and more.

I'm happy to either hang out with hosts or keep to myself. I'm pretty adaptable and can entertain myself easily. Some nights I like to chill out with a book and cup of tea, I like playing games and just hanging out chatting, and some nights I like to go out partying.

I love animals and was vegetarian for 21 years. I now eat some meat, but I’m selective about what kind and where it comes from (I’ll eat wild meat, plus some chicken and fish depending on the source). I absolutely love pets, and I have a cat.
I'm very clean and a respectful houseguest. I always clean up after myself, and usually do a little extra to show my appreciation. I love making new friends, connecting with people through deep conversations, and exchanging stories with fellow travelers and couchsurfers!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This is a great way to experience new places and meet local people in countries and cultures all over the world. Traveling alone can be very lonely at times so it's nice to meet like-minded people who also enjoy traveling or meeting travelers and sharing adventures. I’ve met some incredible people on Couchsurfing and look forward to continuing to do so!

Interests

I love the outdoors - snowboarding, skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, camping, traveling, fishing, boating. I also like to read, write, knit, do yoga, and cook. I love going out for live music and dancing, especially salsa or swing dancing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like almost all music! Live music is the best - I especially enjoy all kids of rock, bluegrass, folk, funk, soul, rhythm & blues, drum & bass. My favorite bands include Dave Matthews Band, The Local Natives, The Devil Makes Three, Sublime, Jack Johnson, Norah Jones, The Lumineers, The Head and the Heart, Pearl Jam, Nirvana.
I try not to watch too muchTV, but I like Brooklyn 99, Parks and Rec, Broad City, The Office (US, I haven't seen the UK version yet), and Seinfeld!
I read all different kinds of books - fiction and nonfiction, novels, biographies, histories, spiritual journeys, anything that is well written. Definitely travel and adventure stories. Also self-help books - I love learning about myself and constantly trying to improve! Most recently: East of Eden, Catcher in the Rye, Beyond the Wand, The Alchemist, the Ishmael series, Shantaram, Where the Crawdads Sing, High Tide in Tuscon, The Bean Trees, Travels with Charley.
Also a big Harry Potter and LOTR nerd, both books and movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteered at an elephant sanctuary in Thailand for a week, at a wildlife rescue center in Bali for two weeks, a koala sanctuary in Australia for one week, and with elephants in India for one week. Swam with wild dolphins in the Bahamas. Cuddled with a bear (rescued, at a wildlife rescue center). Skydiving in New Zealand. Spent my summers and winters living and working in beautiful places.
