Overview
About Me
My name is Julien, I am a young French engineer and have been living in Montreal (Canada) for 4 years. I will be travelling Central & South America from the end of february 2018, for at least 9 months. I will start with Guatemala, and aim at going south until Ushuaia! :) I studied mostly mechanical and energy engineering, and specialized in aerospace. I graduated 2 years ago and have worked in companies since. I quit in October 2017. But I now want to re-orientate my "career path" as I wish to use my competences to act against climate change/for the protection of the environment and thus work in the renewable energies/sustainable development field. I want to feel that my work is useful for the future of the society. I would also like to develop new knowledge/skills in permaculture, bio-agriculture in general, low-techs... I speak french (native language), english (bilingual); I can have basic conversation in Spanish for now but hope to improve down the road. I also have basic knowledge in German. I have been living in shared apartments for around 7 years, so I know and like how to live in a community. I have a lot of humour and always try to joke around and make puns.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
A very large range of types of music from classic rocks, progressive rocks, hardrock, to electro, hip-hop, rap, some classical sometimes... I love music in general and love to discover new artists.
Movies:
I really enjoy cinema even though I don't watch as much movies I wish... I guess I watch too many series instead!
Best film directors include: Stanley Kubrick; Christopher Nolan; Quentin Tarantino; David Fincher; Tim Burton; Denis Villeneuve...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Road trip down the East Coast of Australia, living in the car.
Once in Byron Bay (AUS), I was casually swimming at some 10-20m from the shore, when I found myself surrounded by a shoal of fishes. Like thousands of fishes that darken the water around; but you can't touch one as they are moving so quick.
And then came the dolphins, hunting for the fishes. So I basically just ended up swimming around the fishes and dolphins, a few meters from me! While everyone on the beach came to the shore to watch the dolphins. :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I am very curious and so I love to learn new stuffs, develop new skills in general.
Currently, I'd be interested in learning about bio-agriculture especially permaculture; also I would like to be introduced to some kind of meditation/yoga-like disciplines.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I used to play the guitar a lot; even if I haven't played in a while, I still have some strong basics I could teach.
I could teach you some basics in French.
I know some simple recipes that I could show you.
Also, I have a pretty strong background in maths, physics, mechanics, and good computer basics if that can be of interest.
