About Me

Hi all!

I'm an open minded Kiwi girl who's been living and working in London for the past 5 years. I'm friendly, social and love to meet new people.

I'm a kid at heart still. Playgrounds, trampolines, bouncy castles, games, cards, ball pits -I love all these things and to me they are all ages activities!

Hiking is a (relatively new) passion of mine and I try to get out for long walks in nature as often as I can, I love the beautiful places you can only get to via foot. There's something about woodlands, outdoors and water that soothes the soul!

A great evening for me would be spent discussing anything and everything with a glass of wine (or gin) in hand and a some good food. I have a tendency to discuss the deep and meaningfuls very soon after meeting someone new as I find philosophy, religion and politics very interesting. I prefer smaller gatherings to a big party scene as I find big groups of people I don't know a bit daunting.

After becoming restless with the 9-5 and politics of office work I've decided it's time for a change - so have left my flat, job and life in London to become a nomad for a while!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While at home I love hosting through couchsurfing as it 'brings the travel to me'! Being able to meet people from all over the world and learn about their lifestyle and culture whilst in you're own home - it's brilliant!

While travelling I want to meet local people and learn from them about the town / country and the lifestyle, and hopefully get a more authentic experience of the place I am visiting. I found up until now I often haven't properly meet anyone from the place I'm visiting enough to have a conversation, and it's such a shame so hope to change this.

I also believe you can learn something from everyone you meet- so looking forward to more of learning what I never knew I never knew at home and abroad!

Interests

I'm not actually vegan just very interested in it!

Love love love music especially live, I really enjoy watching live music at smaller venues with lesser known artists. Something beautiful about experiencing it up close it more intimate settings.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - Such a mix! Emeli Sande, James Bay, Gabrielle Aplin, Billy Joel, Pat Benatar, Hearts & Colours, 3 doors down, Pink, Rationale, Ben Howard, Keith Urban, Dolly Parton, Maisie &Lennon, Clare Bowen..

Movies - I tend to watch more TV series than movies. Recent binge watches were handmaids tale and the affair.

Books - Asides from reading to learn new skills I'm a fiction girl. Favourite book is Kite Runner. I read mostly crime and psychological books. Recent books - A kind worth killing; my last confession; the silent wife; a sisters gift.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelling and meeting so many lovely people along the way has been amazing and I am so blessed to have been able to do so!

Interesting fact - I lived in Pakistan for 3 years as a child

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you about life in NZ and the Maori language and culture (indigenous people to NZ), how to cook one of my favourite recipes (albeit my cooking skills are basic so most people can probably teach me more!), share the little bit of Spanish I know. I am also learning coding, am very happy to share the basics I know so far! I can also teach you about insurance and business analysis - but doubt I'll have any takers there it's not the most interesting!

Would love to learn anything you can teach me!

What I Can Share with Hosts

As above, also a good listening ear, travel/life stories, hopefully a laugh, hiking buddy!
