About Me
Hey guys, I'm Julie! A Swiss-German-Uruguayan 23 year-old girl, currently studying translation in Geneva. My family and friends live in different parts of the world, which means I am always on the go planning my next adventure. Beside my complex origins, I'm a warm-hearted and curious girl. I love helping people: while others are happy, so am I. I'm also kind of crazy sometimes; but don't worry, I'm not of the dangerous type.
My philosophy of life:
"You never know what worse luck your bad luck has saved you from." Cormac McCarthy
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Though it's undeniable that CS is a great way to travel cheaper, I think that it's especially one of the best ways to discover a new place. Hosts are mostly locals who know their country, their city, and can therefore teach us so many things about their culture and typical things from their hometown.
It's also a great way to meet people, and interacting with strangers means sharing. Sharing thoughts, knowledge, emotions, cultures, ways of seeing the world... The list is infinite.
Interests
I'm interested in almost everything! It's wonderful because I never get bored, but it's tiring when it comes to take a decision...
I love music. Listening to music, enjoying a concert, a music festival.. But also playing guitar and singing, almost the whole time! I think that music is a great way to connect with people since there are no boundaries such as language, age or ability/disability.
I'm also fond of learning languages. With my family and all the journeys, the opposite would have been impossible. I am still learning Italian, German and hope to learn many more! I would also love to learn French Sign language, I think it is such a different and interesting way to communicate.
And, of course, I love traveling, meeting new people, sharing cultures... Though these interests sound very common on this platform, that's why I mentioned them at the very end.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite book is "Shantaram", by Gregory David Roberts.
I listen to all kinds of music, but especially Rock, Pop and Folk. These days, I'm listening to James Bay, Matt Maeson, Lewis Capaldi, HAIM, Jeff Buckley, Tom Misch, Fakear, Alex Francis, Tamino, Panic! At the Disco, Twenty One Pilots...
Regarding movies, it's hard to choose. I am fond of Room, I Origins, Cloud Atlas, The Fall, Source Code, Argo, Captain Fantastic, The Guilty, Call Me By Your Name, About Time, Interstellar, Inception, Silver Linings, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Shindler's List. I probably forgot loads of them.
About TV shows, I've enjoyed watching Sense8, Vikings, The OA, Money Heist and Suits.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Laying down on the floor at the edge of a cliff in Ireland, with just my head popping out, looking at the waves breaking on the rocks. The feeling is indescribable.
