About Me

CURRENT MISSION:

Spending Winter Season at home in Amsterdam 🏡💚 🌟

❗️*Please read the MY HOME section first, and do read my COMPLETE profile, before sending me a request!*

❗️*Note: At the moment I host ONLY from Mondays till Thursdays and i do NOT host people without references and/or empty/poor profiles. Send your request not more than 5 days before your arrival.*

ABOUT ME

Namaste travellers salaam!🙏
Am a happy, open-minded, spiritual, independent woman who loves to travel around the world. I love life and feel blessed to be here. I respect the Universe and the mysteries of it. Am a dreamer (yes Pisces!) and have a laid back lifestyle, live without agenda and don't plan my life far ahead. I like the experience of mixing and meeting new people/cultures and exploring new things in life. I am an introvert, reliable and easy-going person. Love to spent time with open-minded people like artists, nomads, hippies, guitarmen and free spirits. Don´t feel to judge anyone since we are all unique and have our own path to walk in life. I have shared interesting times with people from various horizons; from millionaires with private helicopters to jungle drugsdealers, from amazing musicians to fancy lawyers and from criminals to homeless holy sadhus. I feel grateful to be surrounded by a group of caring friends in different countries. Sometimes wish i can be a backpacker for the rest of my life...and maybe i will! I believe in Karma; what goes around comes around! I like to participate in spiritual activities like singing mantra´s, attending ceremonies/rituals, building awareness, practice self love and attending workshops. Love to make jewelry, dreamcatchers, mosaic, read, write, walk, meditate and hang around in ashrams, temples, monasteries, abandoned places and the nature.💚

🟪 In 2008 i found the courage to follow my heart and intuition and left (after 14 years!) my busy job as a manager at a digital printing company because i wanted to travel, explore, learn and grow! Life's too short to be only busy with a career. So from then on i travel a lot and when i am at home in Amsterdam, i look for temporary jobs through a job agency.😊

🟪 In 2011 i learned the secrets of Macramé in the Himalaya's in India. Boom Bholenath! From that moment on i create beautiful handmade jewelry with crystals and sell them on markets and festivals in my hometown Amsterdam and every country i travel. You can find me at FB under; Tammy's Tribal Treasures👑

🟪 In 2017 i made my 10th long journey through India and realized i have seen more from this colourful, spiritual country than most of my local Indian friends, and still i don´t know much about this interesting, diverse and astonishing place. I am very grateful for the amazing life-changing experiences this country gave to me. Mama India is my second home. And of course i will return again!🙋‍♀️

🟪 In March 2020 i returned from another long journey through India and arrived back home in Amsterdam in the middle of the Covid19 drama, just before the whole world went into Lock Down. In The Netherlands we had 3 Lockdowns, a lot of restrictions, evening curfew and we were suggested to stay inside home for almost 2 years. In September 2020 our minister of Justice and Security, Ferdinand Grapperhaus was getting married with a big wedding-party and in October 2020 our king Willem Alexander flew with his family to Greece for a holiday. The leaders of our country just had fun, while we were all in Lock Down and obligated to stay at home!! Due to this, the Covid-propaganda on the mainstream media and my own personal research, (inside hospitals, pharmacovigilance centers, data banks etc) i decided to stay unvaccinated.💪😊

🟪 In October 2021 me and my partner bought a beautiful old wooden Tiny House, in a Nature Park in Amsterdam. This is Off Grid and from Fridays till Sundays we are mostly working/staying there. This is also the reason that i can not host in weekends. There is lots of work to do in the Tiny House, it needs complete renovation. The garden is a jungle and more than 250 m2 so in case you wanna help us out there, you get priority in hosting. Lately i developed more love and interest for the nature and for the last year i attended weekly workshops to learn about edibles in the nature, medicinal herbs, and how to make your own natural washing powder, syrup, soap, ointment, tincture, roomspray, deodorant, grow mushrooms and much more. Would love to share my knowledge and recipes with you.💚

🟪 In the summer of 2024 i am 25years member of Couchsurfing and i still love this community! 🥳🤩😍

❗️IF YOU ARE STILL INTERESTED IN STAYING WITH ME PLEASE READ THE "MY HOME" SECTION FIRST!❗️

PHILOSOPHY

- "Enjoy the little things in life...for one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things"

- "To acquire knowledge, one must study; but to acquire wisdom, one must observe"

- "Love isn't complicated, people are"

- "Normal is an illusion. What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly"

- "Don't tell me how educated you are, tell me how much you have travelled"

- "Love is not about how much you say 'i love you' but how much you can prove that it's true"

- "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us. And the world will live as one"

- "Maybe some women aren't meant to be tamed. Maybe they need to run free until they find someone just as wild to run with them"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting and surfing. Also i regularly organise CS events at my home or on different locations. Going to the weekly CS meetings in town. Showing people around in Amsterdam and giving online advice. The more i travel and the older i grow, the more i love my little Amsterdam with it´s cultural breeding places, openness, diversity and tolerance for differences. With 180 nationalities living in the city, i guess everyone feels easily at home here.
I know how it feels to be lost in a country where you don't speak the language so if you are in trouble let me know and i will do all my best to help you. As a solo traveller i love to meet locals and see the country from their point of view. I'm interested in meeting people with a different approach of life, different visions and experiences, to have a connection where we can both share and enrich our minds.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Many things amazing in my life, here a few happy memories:
- *Dancing for many hours at illegal house parties in abandoned places in Amsterdam, such as boats, tunnels, warehouses and grain silo's. One party night there wasn't enough oxygen inside the tunnel and we quickly had to leave the place. This was all in the early 90's.
- *Visiting a crazy Wasteland party in a warehouse in Amsterdam in 2003 and when the doorbitch didn't approved my top i took it off, hid it inside my leather boots, went into the party topless and once inside, put my top back on again!
- *Snorkeling in an underground Cenote tunnelsystem with stalagmites and stalagtites and visiting Chichen Itza in Yucatan, Mexico.
- *Walking the Great Wall in Beijng, China.
- *Rafting on a icy cold Himalayan river in Nepal and dancing with a Tharu tribe in their famous stick dance.
- *Driving a snowmobile up to over 100 kilometres an hour…crossing frozen rivers in the very isolated north of Finland with a temperature of minus 30 degrees to visit a Sami tribe.
- *Riding a sledge with 6 Husky-dogs in that same cold, snowy country Finland, staying in a tipi and watching Aurora Borealis.
- *Walking through the hot and isolated amazingly beautiful Sahara desert in Tunisia and visiting the movie-set of Star Wars and drinking tea with tribal Berber people.
- *Wandering around in the overwhelming Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA and visiting a Navajo Reservation.
- *Hiking the mysterious active volcano Etna on the island Sicily.
- *Floating in a rubber boat down the waterfall rivers of the biggest waterfalls in the world, Foz de Iquazu in Brasil.
- *Visiting Navaratri festival in the holy city of Varanasi in India together with over a million pilgrims!
- *Climbing the rocks of pink city Petra in Jordan and visit a Bedouin family in a cave home.
- *Going to a trance-party in the jungle of the state Goa in India and driving to the party on a bike without light and speedmeter on bad roads without streetlights and after the party driving back home.~Halelujah!
- *Visiting the mysterious piramids of Gizeh in Egypt.
- *Smoking chillum around the duni with babaji friends in an ancient Shiva Temple in the Himalaya's in India.
- *Wandering around the wonderful jungle temples of Angkor Wat and visiting the amazing watervillage Khlong Phluk in Cambodia.
- *Staying in tents for a few nights with local Bedouin men in Wadi Rum desert in Jordan.
- *Visited several Satsangs with Mooji in the mountaincity of Rishikesh in India.
- *Living with the monks in a monastery in Thailand to learn about Buddhism and meditation. Once while doing walking meditation i reached a very peaceful silent kind of unconscious state which i still can't describe in words.

Teach, Learn, Share

🟨-I can TEACH you the basics of macramé. How to make a bracelet or wallhanger. Also i can teach you how to make a dreamcatcher and a small bit of crochet/knitting. Maybe you would like to be a model for a photoshoot with my jewelry or help me in my marketstal at a market or some festival. If you would like to shoot some pics of me and my jewels also great!
🟨-I still would like to LEARN many things in life...like riding a big motorbike, playing chess and improving my Spanish. I believe every person and every moment in life will teach us something.....la vida es bella! I love to learn new things and am open for new experiences.
🟨-And i can SHARE lots of my crazy India-stories with you!

In The Netherlands we also have the option to find a room/house through an Anti-Squatting-Agency. Here is a list of the Anti-Kraak-companies where you can inscribe yourself; https://www.iamexpat.nl/housing/dutch-housing-market/anti-squatting-antikraak

Ofcourse Squatting is also an option but nowadays illegal. Since 2010 Squatting is officially forbidden by law but it still happens nowadays. Do you know of an empty building and nobody using it for a long time? You can go to the weekly Squatting Assistance Hours at different locations. Here is one in the center of Amsterdam;
https://radar.squat.net/nl/amsterdam/studentenkraakspreekuur-sksu

If you are on a tight budget and don´t mind big full dormitory places, book a bed from 12 euro on: https://www.hostelworld.com

If you don't have much money try this hostel in the south, more quiet part of Amsterdam and close to all tourist things. Female-dorms as well. Dormitory-rooms starting from 16 euro a night and Private Single/Double rooms starting from 50 euro per night:
http://www.hostelcosmos.com/

Or this cheap guesthouse near Sarphatipark starting from 15,99 euro a night for dormitory rooms: https://amsterdamhostelsarphati.com/

Or this famous youth hostel starting at 18,00 euro a night for dormitory rooms:
http://hansbrinker.com/amsterdam/

Or my favourite one; this recently opened, modern hostel in the Oosterpark, starting at 15 euro a night for shared rooms:

Or if you are looking for a religious shelter, starting from 16 euro a night for dormitory rooms including breakfast: http://www.shelterhostelamsterdam.com/prices-hostel-amsterdam#prices-2017

And if you are a group of musicians you should definitely stay in the Q-Factory Hotel. Starting from 80 euro per night for a private room with 4 beds. https://www.q-factory-hotel.nl/en/rooms

Or if you are looking for a single room (from 29 euro) or double room (from 39 euro) for reasonable prices check out this hostel near the Leidseplein: https://www.princesshostelamsterdam.com/en/

Or try the best camping in Amsterdam, also colourful cabins available (2 pers eco cabin 37,50 euro per night, 1 pers eco cabin 25 euro per night in low season);
www.campingzeeburg.nl

If you don´t have money for the camping, you can put your tent somewhere in the Diemerbos, (free parkinglot for your car/camper at Muiderstraatweg 61) ofcourse wild camping is not aloud in our country (Fine =140 euro) but if you wanna go for an adventure, this isolated forest area is worth the risk for a night: https://www.amsterdam.nl/toerisme-vrije-tijd/parken/diemerbos/

If you have no money for a tent, you can look in this list of ´Free Give Away´ shops in Amsterdam. There you can find free Second Hand stuff like tents, blankets, clothes, plants, shoes, bags, kitchen stuff, toys and so on. My favourite one is Het Afvalpaleis, they give Free Workshops as well. And in case you wanna get rid of some travel-stuff, cause it is too much to carry, please drop it there. https://duurzaamamsterdam.net/hergebruik/8x-leukste-weggeefwinkels-amsterdam/?fbclid=IwAR0v6W1-0TzbD0_T_Fm1GU2ZM3wxXeko8dk-Gx9lBwvcif2SZnsBawqe8CY

And if you have enough money and wanna spent some nights in a luxury room in a weird hotel on 50 meter height check out this one: https://faralda.com/

If you wanna be my neighbour for a few days, book one of these beautiful apartments with fully equipped kitchen; https://frankendaelapartments.com/

If you really can't find anything, you can always rent the private, cozy wooden cabin in my garden. It has a peaceful wooden interior and 2 people can sleep inside. One on the sofa and 1 on a nice futon on the floor. The cabin has no heating but it has insulation so it's not very cold, although for winter season (October till March) i would not recommend it due to the Dutch Cold Climate. It is a silent cabin so (speaker/phone) music not aloud. You use the bathroom/kitchen inside the house. The price is 25 euro per person per night, including wifi, tea/coffee, drinking tabwater and you can borrow an old bicycle from me. Maximum stay is 4 nights.

If you are totally out of money, you can always sleep under the starry sky on the big wooden benches at Mr. Visserplein. Specially on warm summernights, you will not be the only one out there. https://www.google.nl/maps/place/Mr.+Visserplein,+Amsterdam/@52.3681821,4.9016677,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x47c609bda46e9c3f:0x153ad23389edafd7!8m2!3d52.3681821!4d4.9038564

After sleeping on the street, you can visit the one and only Bath House in our country. You can take a hot shower (max. 30 min) for 1,50 euro including a cup of tea/coffee. And you can rent a towel for 0,50 eurocents. http://www.badhuisdacosta.eu/badhuis/

If you don't wanna eat alone and looking for a cheap 3-Course Vegan Dinner go to the Volkseten Vegazulu nights, every monday and thursday in the East part of Amsterdam. It's a squad house/community home with a cozy little terrace and the atmosphere is like a livingroom. The price is only 4 euro per person. Starts at 19.00. Check the website https://joesgarage.nl/ before going because if they don't have a volunteer cook, the place is closed.

Another squad house/community home where you can eat weekly by giving a donation is Molli Chaoot. Every Tuesday and Wednesday at 19.00 you can eat a 3-course meal. Here is the link for the address and details; https://molli.squat.net/?fbclid=IwAR1TR-sY703lSDuICfc4QK4XRVg8SU-7KvkGdPh_iSw0H8l-4DxFa3flAcM

If you are staying in the center and wanna go for a cheap Italian Lunch, i can recommend this nice place, good food, friendly staff; http://www.caldiefreddi.nl/home

Another budget place for Breakfast and Lunch in the city center is trendy cafe Latei. Friendly staff, homemade food and the whole colourful vintage interior is for sale; http://www.latei.net/

Or for an affordable dinner i can really recommend my favourite Snackbar Thai Bird. Every day a different dish for 14.50 euro, this price is for take away only; http://thaibird.nl/
