About Me

I guess I'm the social kind of einzelgänger. Like to do my own things, but enjoy company along the way. Love conversation. Curious person, like to know what makes people tick.
Happy when active, I like to move: cycle, walk, dance..
Momentarily pretty busy with an organic shop, which also focusses on boosting local organic agriculture, fair prices for good food, organised as a coop, so customers also get a weigh-in, profits go to developing local organic agriculture or developing zero-waste-shopping. It's an all-consuming business (and me and my companions need to make some sort of a modest living out of it), and very exciting, hope we succeed in facilitating another way of shopping.
But when I'm travelling, I try to look at other stuff too :-)
Vegetarian and fairly environmentally aware. Clearly it's very important to me, but I don't need to talk about it all the time (stop me when i do), I'm also still interested in people who are from a very different walk of life!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the idea of hospitality to strangers.
I had a great cycling trip from Wageningen (my previous home town) to Berlin some years ago, last summer i didn't surf, but the summer before that I had some amazing stays in the UK. Some of my hosts surfed my couch in return, so I guess they liked having me over as much as I liked staying there.
I can honestly say CS has improved my trust in mankind significantly; kind and interesting people can be found everywhere ;-p

Interests

Love to cook, eat, drink, good conversation, being in the middle of nowhere, or on the road, love movies, museums, city architecture, old abandoned buildings falling apart, or creatively fixed up squats, eco-buildings, music theatre....
As much as I love to be surrounded by nature, I really need to pick up on some culture and art in the city at times. Just can't seem to make up my mind where I should belong.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sitting in the real dark in the olive yards near Álora, during summer in Spain. So many stars....

Teach, Learn, Share

love to cook and eat together. I know all about pulses :-p
love to share my food and ideas
need to think some more about what i could actually teach someone, it usually comes along the way during conversation of with doing things together.
The different ways people go about things is nice :-).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook for people (only vegetarian, though), read stories, make good conversation.
