About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Make friends in as many places as possible!
ABOUT ME
I'm a confident nerd who likes to go new place and make new friends. Although I am British, I've spent most of my childhood travelling around Asia and Europe (sometimes on my own, sometimes with my family) and studied long enough in China to learn basic Mandarin (I also speak really /really/ terrible Hokkien and Malay).
Before qualifying as a teacher, I studied art, worked as an archaeologist in York, and performed in theatre. Currently I spend a lot of my free time drawing things from TV shows and movies I like (I did mention that I'm a massive nerd, right?)
PHILOSOPHY
Infinite diversity in infinite combinations
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I found out about Couchsurfing whilst I lived in China - one of my friends got in contact with two Slovakians who were visiting our city and wanted to be shown around. We took them on their first Chinese bus (they didn't speak a word of Chinese!), to a beautiful mountain, and to an exciting spicy dinner. I was inspired to join the website myself because of that great experience :)
Interests
I spend too much time on Tumblr, and the internet in general. I love movies, tv shows, twitter, blogging, drawing, travel, photography, Taoist and Buddhist temples, art, tea, and food.

Music, Movies, and Books
Science Fiction, British period drama, most movies, and too many books to name.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've spent most of my life participating in festivals all over Asia, so I couldn't pick just one of those to describe :) so instead, this story - I travelled by myself the first time in my life, to Arizona, to visit friends I'd met on the internet. They took me to the Grand Canyon, where it rained all day, and we watched lighting strike into the canyon!
Teach, Learn, Share
Traditional British cooking and baking, Chinese and Malaysian cooking, tutoring children of all ages in various subjects, various arts and crafts, and I'd love to continue learning Mandarin.
