About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Out to meet the world!

ABOUT ME

I hail from sunny southern California, specifically LA. Proud Angeleno is currently based in NYC. I work within the entertainment industry as a DASL (Director of Artistic Sign Langauge). I am making sign language look fabulous on screen. On the flip side, I teach ASL and Deaf Studies. Anything deaf-related, I gotchu!

I have a small dog named Peewee (m/12), and I love to travel as much as possible. I'm very spontaneous but cautious all the same. When you meet me for the first time, I'm sure you will know me as an introvert. However, you will notice how much I'm a fun-loving lady with many stories to share.

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy is simple, "Live as you would without any regrets. Everything you learn is a lesson you will take into your everyday life." In other words, try to experience everything with an open mind to become well-rounded.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I travel, I will come with an open mind, heart, and mouth. It's like that phrase live, love, laugh with an additional word eat. When traveling or hosting, I expect to submerge myself within the culture to understand cultural lessons of the different ways to be human.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I often used this excellent site for my first backpacking trip in Europe in 2013. I met amazing people and learned so much. I'm looking forward to the next couch I surf because those experiences were priceless.

Interests

I'm pretty much an open book on various topics. Learning new things and expanding my knowledge on topics I already know interest me greatly. My key to traveling is finding all the deaf spots worldwide and finding the time to visit them. Another is, of course, restaurants. I cannot for the life of me ignore all the foodie places.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love different comedy, drama, and documentary movies. I'm a potterfan so if that what interest you too, awesome! I'm Deaf so music is really a huge world to pick favorites. However, I like ranges of music from nu-rock to mainstream pop to oldies to edm. Anything that sets my mood right and the bass loud.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I have ever seen in my lifetime was the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France at night. It was so beautiful when the lights flickered all over the tower. It reminded me of July Fourth celebration in US as fireworks would be blasting all over the night sky. When I saw the Tower, it was the same week as the fourth of July celebration. What a coincidence!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm Deaf, and I communicate in American Sign Language as my primary language. I can teach you a few phrases in case you meet another deaf person down the road or me. Also, I love to learn and compare your and my cultural lifestyles.
