Hi! I'm Kaitlin. I love adventure, making new friends, chocolate, martial arts, cats, working out, and horseback riding...among many other things!

I moved to Dayton, Ohio from Upstate NY several years ago to study at a dojo here. I currently live in the country at a farm that rehabs ex standardbred race horses, then retrains and rehomes them.
It's a pretty sweet gig.

As my main job, I work as a teacher for foster kids in therapeutic facilities; my title is Therapeutic Martial Arts instructor, but needless to say there is much more involved than just teaching martial arts to kids.

Ninja by night, professional cat herder by day, horseback rider by evening.

Interests

I'm passionate about martial arts (probably obvious by now :p) and have a couple of black belts in To Shin Do, which is modernized Ninjutsu. Stephen K Hayes, in case there's any other martial arts nerds out there? Cmon, y'all are my people!
I have also been horseback riding for most of my life, and love riding and training horses (and people, to ride horses). If I get a chance to host I'll take you riding, if you want to go!
Anything outdoorsy will catch my interest, be it hiking, walking, camping, snowboarding, survival skills, etc. Even tried mountain biking once (thought I was gonna die though, not gonna lie).
Making a positive difference in people's lives, however I can. What impact can I have on the world?

Music, Movies, and Books

Music...honestly anything that's not country. Anything by the Goo Goo Dolls is probably my favorite thing.

Movies: gonna be straight up and forewarn y'all ahead of time, I was raised pretty sheltered and haven't seen many movies.... Despite living in the real world for some time, most movie/pop culture references go straight over my head. Not kidding. At all. Any exposure and recommendations are appreciated!

Books: HARRY POTTER! Also Lord of the Rings, The Wheel of Time, most things by Orson Scott Card... I love fantasy, but also try to read more grown up things, like The Gift of Fear and Women, Race and Class (the two books currently in closest proximity to me).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can give you a mini self defense course! I also make a mean chocolate chip cookie and have some somewhat rusty wilderness survival skills, in case you wanna make a fire by rubbing sticks together or go foraging!
