About Me

After graduating from school in my hometown in Lithuania I moved straight to Berlin. And it was great - I got a place to live, a job, some really good friends, a lot of inspiration for writing my own songs
( you can listen to me on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSKud_NN_6s&t=38s
or soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/kamileinciuraite ). I also started learning German language and I was fine for almost whole two years, but then I realised that I'm missing something..
TRAVELING!
That was it! I wrote my bosses right away that I have to quit, asked my brother if he joins me, and so me and my brother traveled across Europe for two months while hitchhiking, backpacking. It was wonderful! I believe to be on a traveling mission in my life, maybe not intensively, but definitely from time to time! Hope to meet more of the CS family members!
CURRENTLY I am planning a trip to the south of France with a very good friend of mine - Viktorija! I hope to meet some of you while being there!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, it all started when I was a kid. My older sister was a punk (with all of the attributes like mohawk, piercings and ripped jeans). She organised a lot of punkrock concerts in my hometown and all of the band members were staying at our home after those concerts. Sometimes there were more than 20 people sleeping in our small house. And bands were from different countries from all over the world. I always tried to help as much as I could, most of the time I was helping out in the kitchen. I learned that most of the punks are vegetarians and sometimes there are some vegans too, so we were always cooking vegan friendly food. Seeing this different world as a 9-year-old I was amazed.

Some years later my mom created couchsurfing account and started hosting herself (Her name is Sigita Inciuriene, you can find her out here: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/sigita_in_the_park ). And since we live in Siauliai, Lithuania, there were lots of CS people staying at our home (since we live only 8km away from the Hill of Crosses, quite a famous place) I was always interested in hearing all of the stories and thought of the idea of maybe someday being in those travelers' shoes, and here I am!!

Interests

*Vegetarianism, veganism - since I am a vegetarian myself for about 9 years and trying to eat as vegan as possible.

*Music - I went to a musical school, where i learned how to play piano (for 7 years), I also play guitar and I sing. I would call myself a singer and songwriter. I could play something for sure. Or even better, we could improvise and jam a bit together, which is always a surprising experience.

*Drawing - I graduated from art school and i still have the urge to draw something if I have a pencil in my hand.

*Cooking - I love to learn something new and to show something I know myself in the kitchen. And since I was working in the Vegetarian kitchen in Berlin for a few months I am definitely a good help!

*Volunteering - every time I have an opportunity to do so, i take it. My experience varies from volunteering in music festivals to children camps.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:
Since I am a musician myself, I do care about music a lot. And well, the most important thing in music for me is voice and lyrics. My favourite genres include blues, swing, folk and singer-and-songwriter stuff. Just to name a few of my favourite musicians: Nina Simone, Norah Jones, The Beatles, Alice Pheobe Lou, Rodriguez, David Bowie...

MOVIES:

I would say that my two favourite directors are:
* David Lynch. His inclusion of surrealism and mysticism and leaving a lot of untied knots, so everyone can create their own interpretation of his movies. Every movie of his makes you think. And that's important.

*and Richard Linklater. He has a beautiful way of showing relationships between dad and son, two lowers or two friends. It's so subtle and thought through. And all of the new ideas of how to build a movie, like, for example, filming the movie Boyhood (2014) for 12 years, to show the real image of how people grow up in reality.

BOOKS:
I recently reread 'The Little Prince' by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I forgot how beautiful the story was!

Other books that I enjoyed reading: 'The Catcher in the Rye' and 'Nine stories' (J. D. Salinger), 'Dandelion Wine' (Ray Bradbury), 'In Search of Lost Time' (Marcel Proust)...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess there are lots of them, but we just simply live and forget, but for now I think mine is deciding to begin this journey!

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach:
*how to play basics on guitar
*how to cook vegan food
*some Lithuanian words (fun fact: it is one of the oldest languages in the world)

I would love to learn:
*some words in different languages
*different stories about hosts themselves and places where they're living in.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking and music sessions is something that can be made together!
