About Me
Hello!
My name is Kascha Adelle, and I've been traveling in North America and South America for 9 years. I live on and off in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. I mostly work odd jobs, including restaurant work, farming, and construction. I'm also involved in social and agricultural activism. I'm an aspiring novelist, mostly I write fantasy and sci-fi, but lately I've been playing with poetry.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After years of traveling in the Americas I've finally crossed the sea and started traveling in Europe! So many people have recommended this site to me, so I've finally decided to give it a try.
Interests
I'm learning to play the guitar and the flute, and also slowly learning to speak Spanish. I'm an avid reader - I feel that my obsession with novels borders on addiction :) I volunteer often, mainly with traveling free food kitchens and with a few different farming projects. I love being outdoors, camping for weeks at a time, cooking over a fire and exploring forests.
Music, Movies, and Books
Mostly I listen to older R&B, Soul, and Motown classics. I also listen to ragtime, jazz from the 1900's-1920's, gypsy jazz, folk music from all over... I've also fallen in love with Cuban music from the 1960's, like the Buena Vista Social Club. I like alot of new music, too, Erykah Badu, Manu Chao, Hozier, to name a few. I'll dance to anything though.
I love scary movies! Anything with a suspenseful plot.
I love Sci-fi classics, historical fiction, well written fantasy, many classics such as the works of Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Hugo. I also love many contemporary historical non fiction books, like those by Howard Zinn, Jared Diamond, Micheal Pollen - unusual perspectives on history! And books that endeavor to explain different schools of science and philosophy to laymen like me :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Back in 2012, I was living and working with a traveling free food kitchen. In the spring of that year, tornadoes ripped through parts of southern Indiana, leaving a few small towns devastated. We decided to pool our resources, raise funds, and go to Indiana to help with the clean up efforts. We ended up helping an elderly couple move rubble and fallen trees out of the wreckage of their home.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm learning how to play the guitar and the flute, and I'm also slowly learning to speak Spanish. I love learning history, especially personal experiences and perspectives on history. I don't want to be a mono-linguist anymore!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Music and stories! Good conversations and homemade bread. I'm clean, organized, independent, and tactful. I'm really tolerant, friendly, easygoing, and outgoing.
