I am almost retired from my job, 5 months to go!

I am retired from hosting groups of travellers after 14 years and 360 travellers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am here to have interesting company in my home and make friends! :)

I mainly host Volunteer Workers as friends for company and adventure, but sometimes I can squeeze in an enthusiastic CouchSurfer! :)

I offer my guests interesting activities in exchange for their long stays. Like hiking, canoeing, camping, snowshoeing, swimming and some overnight trips.

We mostly explore the White Pass and Atlin, but sometimes we get out to the Chilkat Pass, Kluane National Park and Tatshenshini-Alsek Provincial Wilderness Park. We have local campfire parties and fun activities.

In Summer we do lots of Wild Swimming in the many lakes in the area. In Winter we challenge a nearby warm spring with a quick, chilly dip.

I am located in the warm part of Yukon, full of spectacular mountain scenery and gold rush history. There are a dozen large lakes and we are close to historical sites like Skagway Alaska, where the tale of the Klondike Gold Rush starts.

********Accommodation Availability*************

Single night or short stays do not usually work as I LIVE 120 KMs OUTSIDE WHITEHORSE and I am only in Whitehorse on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, these are the best days to arrive and leave on.

I prefer those who have 2-3 weeks or longer to visit and become friends.

Interests

I used do a lot of hiking and camping with my guests, but I am slowing down and spending more time watching movies, having bonfires and swimming in the lakes in the summer. Visiting the warm springs during the winter.

My work schedule and my energy levels can limit activities, but I can always find time in the summer to skinny dip in the lakes with my guests. The Warm Springs or hot tub are great in winter!

I am surrounded by mountains and lakes, especially when my region is called Southern Lakes, so I greatly enjoy just slowing down and spending time in conversion.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked the Chilkoot Trail seven times.
Hiked to the real Magic Bus four times, not the movie bus.
Hosted 360 guests in 14 years!
