About Me

Hi there! I'm Kasia (Katie), a Spanish and Portuguese student at Oxford University! I love cooking (and baking), reading, cycling, visiting new places, and making friends!

Other facts
- I'm vegetarian (usually)
- I love animals! I've got a dog and four cats at home
- I love medieval art
- I now only take tea with milk... It's like I've been converted
- I'm very keen on politics and social justice and feminism
- when I was in Rome I got lost right in FRONT of a sign pointing to St Peters Square and ran around the entire Vatican City

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started in September 2016 because I was going to Lisbon for a month to do a language course and I wanted to get there a little early. I ended up spending an extra week in Portugal, staying with Couchsurfers and I absolutely loved the experience!

In 2017, in March and April, I travelled solo again across Spain and Portugal. CS made me feel like I had friends everywhere I went and I just stopped by to visit them!!! It was really great to have a bit of company and learn about other people's lives and experiences.

Between July 2017 and January 2018 I lived in Seville doing an Erasmus internship. I was really happy to finally be a host from time to time and to meet amazing people from all corners of the world. I spent the following six months travelling around mainland Portugal and Madeira, working in farms and hostels and making lots of friends!

In September 2018 I finally visited my dream land, NAPLES!!! I spent four weeks travelling and working in the south of Italy, and then flew to Cagliari to visit friends. I'm so thankful for all the people I met during that time that made my trip so special.

This summer (2019) I will be back in Seville for around six weeks, as an au pair. I'll be free in the evening and on weekends and I'd love some company, so if you fancy a jog along the river (early in the morning...), a beer in La Sureña, someone to go to the museum with or just to walk around the centre, hit me up!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - blues, old salsa, fado, classic pop (I LOVE Dean Martin & Elvis), Brazilian music (sertanejo, funk, MPB, pagode), Latin pop, also opera and tons of classical and choral pieces. And Eden Ben Zaken!!

Movies - The Great Beauty, the Rocky series, 80s action films
(I'm also a big big fan of Criminal Minds, Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn 99)

Books - Dangerous Liaisons, La Regenta, The Red and the Black, Count of Monte Cristo and anything by Alexandre Dumas, Notre Dame de Paris... I'm a lit student, I like old stuff. Also: Graham Greene, J.M. Coetzee, Raymond Chandler and detective fiction in general. Oh and Harry Potter!!!!

At the moment I'm reading Pride and Prejudice!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once made a whole pot of pappa al pomodoro which was meant to serve four people and I had it all in one sitting and it was AMAZING
