To many reasons!
To develop skills like languages, organization, guiding, social, planning and international cooking.
To get to know other cultures.
To build a network of international friends, who i could possibly visit when travelling.
To learn things, fam, friends and education can't teach you.
To experience things you woudn't have considered trying before.
To get drawn into someones life for a little time to experience what its like.

What did you do this weekend?
I got lost, while cycling along windmills with someone from a far away country, that i only know by name. When we got back at the waterbridge the sun was setting, so we went home to cook something i can't name a single ingredient of. After we discovered that we could randomly play the exact same instrument, we stayed up all night sharing crazy stories and fell asleep next to each other.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Sailing trip from the Netherlands to the UK and back.
Seasick from the start till the end, but never felt better in my life.
Dolphins and others following your vessel, birds landing on it to rest.
Being outside at 2am in the middle of the night, feeling the wind blow you away, throwing your tiny vessel up and down, and huge waves crashing in on it with nothing around you but the sea and the sky. The only thing keeping the vessel from total loss of control are your hands on the wheel.

A new surfer, so i don't expect anything from you, yet know exactly what you (dis)like due host experience.
When i confirm i supply arrival info and never cancel unless necessary.

I'll make you a dinner you never tried before. Keep you company with smiles and stories for as long as it doesn't tire you. Keep it clean and self sufficient. And maybe a dutch gift at the end? :)

I will travel and sightsee during daylight, the evening is yours ;)

Now lets talk about my demands, as my kindness doesn't come for free!
My demands:
- A sleeping space prefferably a warm place, but if you have space in your fridge that will work aswell.
- A smile every once in a while or you run the risk of me going to do my other favorite cs hobbies like sleeping.....
in your fridge.
- A loud alarm in case of emergency. As i sleep deeply, calling my name doesn't always work ;)
Hey! at least i dont snore!!!

I do not espect you to be helpfull, entertaining, generous etc.
Altho they can enhance the experience the above demands are sufficient for a positive reference.

p.s. I did a quick google to see if i can end this wall of text with a joke including a fridge, i didn't find a good one, as fridges appearently aren't funny in any way. but i did find a facebook page with hundreds of members dedicated to post jokes about fridges, that was quite amazing
