Über mich
CURRENT MISSION
To explore the world
ABOUT ME
Modern in my thinking and fun loving in my outlook on life, am not afraid to push the boundaries in the name of style and creativity. Moving forward with the times is important to me. Am thoughtful and original in my outlook. I like to be made to think and often seek out ways to expand my horizons. I rarely if ever ask "why" but rather "why not."
PHILOSOPHY
Go gentle and try to maybe talk less and listen more.
I have had a business for the past eight+ years in DC. On the side trying to create art (printmaking mostly, some photography). I also enjoy organizing art exhibits/events. And while a lot of what I just mentioned is not a philosophy it is my life and what makes me tick.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Am very down to Earth, sophisticated and inquisitive with a real passion for art and culture. I like to bring together very diverse and even dissenting opinions and this is rooted in my appreciation for all points of view. I believe in immersing myself in interesting experiences that make me look at people, places and opportunities from new angles. Being sensitive and creative I want to feel connected to the world around me and actively seek out opportunities to explore it. It's all about broadening my horizons and living life to the full.
I am active and enjoy the outdoors including hiking, gardening, horsebackriding, long walks, etc. I have the energy of a college student (I taught undergraduates last year so I know) and am young at heart.

Favorite stuff in general:
Reading, running, watching film at both the AFI in Silver Spring and E St. Theater, attending rock shows at 9:30 Club, spending time with my family and friends, going to art galleries and museums in DC. Recently took up Bikram yoga and love it. Have practiced Aikido and horseback riding as well- both of which I love- just not the injuries.
Love MSNBC and NPR. NPR is my go to for news these days although I do subscribe to the Washington Post.
I love to travel as well. My trips vary between cultural immersions or adventure such as learning how to dance by the Ewe people on Adaklu Mountain in Ghana on a solo trip or zip-lining in Costa Rica above a rain forest.
Museums:
A favorite pastime. Mark Rothko is my favorite painter so the East Wing of the National Gallery is local DC-favorite as is the Hirshhorn. Also like the Rothko Room at the Phillips Collection. AVAM up in Baltimore is my favorite museum of all time. The Guggenheim in NYC is runner up. I ran away to the Guggenheim when I was 16-years old. Was a very long trip to get there but Kandinsky was worth it. This museum will always have a special place in my heart.
Love all the Egon Schiele at the Leopold Museum in Vienna and the many works of Gustav Klimpt in both Prague and Vienna. Am also a huge fan of Antoni Gaudi and love Park Guell, La Pedrera and Basílica de la Sagrada Família in Barcelona.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
Learned how to dance from the Ewe people while in Ghana on Adaklu Mountain. That was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
