About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm 23 and just graduated from the university last May with degrees in journalism and Spanish. After spending seven months studying in Chile, three months studying in Costa Rica, two months volunteering in Nicaragua and four months working/volunteering in Mexico during college, I still hadn't quenched my thirst to see the world. So I took a year off to teach English in an elementary school in Estepona, Spain. Now I'm back in Nebraska working for a year before going to law school to hopefully one day become an immigration attorney at a non-profit law firm, helping Hispanic immigrants in the southwest United States.
PHILOSOPHY
I don't believe in regrets. Yes, I've made some huge mistakes in my life, and I know I'll make more. But many times those mistakes have later turned out to be arrows pointing me in the right direction.
"Es tan corto el amor y es tan largo el olvido." - Pablo Neruda
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. - Serenity prayer
"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." -Eleanor Roosevelt
"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." — Marilyn Monroe
"I believe things happen for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so you can appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together." Marilyn Monroe.
"Some women choose to follow men and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you're wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn't love you anymore." - Lady Gaga
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hosting, surfing, meeting up for drinks/coffee/dinner. I have to admit, since going to Spain, I've become a wine addict and tapa addict. :-)
COUCHSURFING IS NOT AN ONLINE DATING SITE. There are lots of other sites if you are looking for that. CouchSurfing is about meeting new people and a cultural exchange, not about looking for a weekend, no-strings attached hook-up.
Interests
Introducing people to Flor de Cana rum (if you don't know it, trust me, it is reason enough to go to Nicaragua!), deep conversations over a full glass of white wine, dancing to reggeaton, attempting to learn salsa (I suck, though will tell you otherwise after a few drinks), white chocolate, drinking Coca Cola Zero (I'm an addict), dining on spicy food, and of course, exploring the world, meeting new people and learning new languages.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent a summer volunteering in a rural school on the outskirts of Granada, Nicaragua. The warmth and happiness of the children despite having so little taught me to appreciate and be thankful for what I have and that my problems really aren't as insurmountable as they may seem in the context of the world.
I was fortunate to see in person the inauguration of the first woman president in Costa Rica.
Hiking the Patagonia for five days in Chile was breathtaking.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm learning how to cook after years of living on frozen dinners in college and enjoy new recipes, especially if it's spicy! I know a few recipes from Chile and Costa Rica that I can share. My recent achievements include Avocado Parmesan Chicken and Garlic Shrimp Scampi pasta.
