American gal married to a Finnish guy. We live in Southern Finland and are remodeling an old house. We have a cat named Viiru and otherwise are interested in enjoying the outdoors including; hiking, camping, fishing, and site-seeing.

Our home is a work-in-progress but we hope to eventually have a guest room completed for family and possibly couchsurfing guests if they are interested.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I first used couchsurfing more than a decade ago while traveling throughout Europe. I met wonderful people in Geneva, Switzerland, Milan, Italy and also met a great couple living in Chicago who hosted me over-night while passing through Illinois. I was a couchsurfer here in Finland upon first arrival after finding myself somewhat stranded.

Sadly, those pesky reminders to log into my couchsurfing account were unheeded (hey, I was busy living life!) and my previous account and history are gone. Too bad, but I like the new site. ;)

My experiences as a couchsurfer have been positive; the people who I've hosted, and those who've hosted me were wonderful, friendly and very helpful people.

Interests

My husband and I enjoy the outdoors and being in nature. When in larger cities we take in the museums and cafes. We are social drinkers only, and neither of us smoke. We are active people and walk and cycle around the area where we live in Southern Finland for fun and exercise. Pekka works in IT and I'm an historian who also teaches English language courses.

Our home in Lohja is about 45min from Helsinki which makes for an easy commute. Our city has approx, 45K residents and is situated well in the southern region of Finland with many lakes nearby.

I enjoy both fiction and non-fiction books. Pekka especially likes Sci-Fi and keeping up with his favorite sports teams & activities.

We are happy to inform you about Finnish culture and language if you are interested. We welcome the opportunity to learn new things and enjoy open communication. We are a straight couple seeking travel experiences only. :)

Pekka is interested in and plays floor hockey weekly, as well as runs cross-country (orienteering). During the winter months he also enjoys bowling. I like hiking, bicycling, and gardening.
