Overview
About Me
I’m a doctor by profession and a traveller by passion.
**UPDATE DECEMBER 2024***
I can host now! Previously, m due to my overcrowded housing situation (big family in small house). I was technically CouchSurfing with a mattress on a floor in my own house since I’m the youngest in the family 😅 Situation has improved! When I’m not hosting/surfing, I’m pursuing many of my life-time projects!
***FOR SURFERS***
Please tell me why you think we will enjoy each other’s company, thank you ☺️ we need not have the same interests!
I enjoy stints with minimal income and purely volunteer work overseas in various communities as I can combine my love for medical practice with my passion for meeting people from various communities through exploration. (P.S. please feel free to reach out to me if you’re thinking of doing something similar with your own profession/career and let’s see where life takes us, even if you don’t plan to host or be hosted by me) Generally love to just throw myself into adventures too.
I aspire to live as a vegan, and prefer coffee and tea over alcohol anytime :) but hey, I can enjoy all of them when there’s a need to. Fresh water will always be my strongest craving, anyway.
I have a response for everything. I enjoy the little things that makes me and you unique. If you're weird, you're probably having a good time with life and making others smile/laugh a lot, too.
Completely nomadic by nature. I can pick and go to anywhere at any time. Everything I own is with me so there nothing to leave behind. Our steps lie ahead of us and our tracks lie behind.
**CURRENT MISSION**:
1) Explore to live in as many cultures as possible in the world and make connection(s) from each culture. I remember people most out of my travels, even more than the sceneries. The kindness of a stranger is so valuable to me, especially when I'm travelling alone. I love people. Good people. And living things such as animals. Love people and use things, not the other way round. Love, family and imagination/magic may eventually conquer all? Shouldn’t life be as simple as that? (:
2) Raise awareness for marginalised groups via my travelling efforts and thirst for adventure. For example:

(P.S. If anybody is interested in planning an adventurous road trip / Cycling expedition / Hiking, please feel free to hit me up! I’ll definitely create a video documentary for our entire experience together)

**PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS**
#1 Emergency Medicine (Including Veterinary Medicine) which deals with physical stress and these specialties do wonders in acute emergency settings in giving humans/animals a second chance at life;
#2 Psychological Medicine / Energy Medicine which deals with emotional stress;
#3 Wilderness Medicine / Traditional Medicine (Non-western) / Preventive Medicine which deals with chemical stress;
There seems to be 3 main stressors in our lives.
Regarding Chemical/Emotional stress, more evidence has been emerging to show that an increasing number medical condition can and should be managed with 4 main pillars: mental wellness, optimal diet, effective exercise and ... (how about you ask me in person haha). I’m not discrediting the benefits of long term medications, though.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’ve been a minimalist for a long time, not going to lie. And I first heard of CS ‘s philosophy from TED-X Talk. I saw a bridge between my lifestyle and CS in the sense that I'm thankful that I'm always repaying (or being gifted) in non-monetary means (you'll never know what money will be used for). This is such a sustainable lifestyle that can be adopted by many without social/economic inequality.
When I listen to you and your view of their city, the experiences/stories that make you smile or tear with sadness... all of these things that you can't see or understand until you talk with people who live in that place you're visiting. People who live out the history that you are learning about. That's why I want to explore sustainably. I often remember people better than places. Honestly, Couchsurfing is the best social media app ever created: something I’ll put my time and effort in.
The most growth I’ve seen for others (and myself) came from the people I least expected to cross my path, who offered me profound lessons about the human condition and our inherent empathy. There was always a constant theme that the pursuit of happiness in life is not derived from financial success but rather derived from forming deep connections with others and making positive, lasting change to help others first. Love others first before being loved.
Interests
Sports in general (from rugby to cycling to frisbee); I love adventure. Hiking, camping, kayaking, rock climbing, biking and pretty much any other activity...Adrenaline-pumping activities (as long as I don't die).
Hey, I wouldn’t mind some friendly competition too, haha (thanking my lucky stars for being given the opportunity to represent Singapore in Contact Rugby, Touch Rugby and Field Hockey)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Life. I've been influenced by a few wonderful people to live a life full of adventure and love.
Thanks for reading till the end, cheers 😉 When you send me a message to request for a host, please share a recent experience that made you very excited and quote 'wassup my brother'
Teach, Learn, Share
If you want to create change in the world: keep talking and change with 1 story at a time. I love collecting stories. The best conversations are where narratives are exchanged about life, love and all sorts of wacky experiences because stories really are, undoubtably, the best currency for living a great life. I'm always up for listening to and sharing any sort of stories really - don't worry if you're a introvert or extrovert or if you think your stories aren't interesting. Any life experience is totally worthwhile, because you've experienced reality and that in itself is super precious!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Trade our life experiences/values/wisdom (albeit there’s a lot more to learn) For example:
(1) Currently reviewing the literature for Mind-Body Medicine with a new commercialised face to it: Wim Hof Method
(2) Trekked deep into Northern Nepal with medical supplies post 2014-earthquake, grew a deep affinity to the villagers and their children which I still feel often.
(3) Serving in the Singapore military
(4) Co-authored a book, Enkindle, which shares local students’ experiences with overcoming challenges during my schooling days: https://m.facebook.com/EnkindleSAJC2013 (Message me if you want a free PDF copy ☺️ all proceeds from book sale funded local charities at that time, so I don’t need to charge a price anymore since all hard copies are out of stock permanently. Shouldn’t we share knowledge freely without a price, unless it can help the marginalised?)
(5) I actually intend to work with inside communities that I can call home such as: http://www.patchadams.org/
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, Cambodia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Pakistan, Scotland, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Viet Nam
