About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Experience life without reservation.
ABOUT ME
I grew up on a dairy and crop farm in Minnesota. I studied mechanical engineering in Iowa City for 6 years. Now I guide hikes up volcanoes in Guatemala while I'm learning Spanish. I like sports, arts, travel, learning about people/history/culture, doing things outdoors (hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, etc.) and eating (especially ice cream).
PHILOSOPHY
People always matter. That's what life is really about: reaching through barriers to connect, support and love each other.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Mostly, I've used couch surfing to meet people to just hang out. I know how expensive lodging is and how hard it can be to get a feel for the true culture of a city without a local contact. So, I want to offer that to other people! Unfortunately, I don't have a great space for hosting right now, but for you adventurous and low maintenance travelers, you're welcome sleeping bag space on my floor!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've met some awesome people through CS! It's always so much fun to see cities through a local's eyes.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books:
Expecting Adam by Martha Beck
Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
What They Carried by Tim O'Brien
Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
Music: Mumford and Sons, Yellowcard, Eric Hutchinson, Cartel, Ingrid Michaelson, John Mayer, Thomas Rhett, Florida Georgia Line, Adele, Alternate Routes. I love for people to share their music with me.
Movies: Depends on my mood. I like action, comedy, drama, romance, suspense, horror... I'm not picky. The only thing I don't like is gory horror movies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The summer after my senior year of high school, I went on a month-long canoe expedition with 8 other girls in remote areas of Canada. We canoed and portaged almost 350 kilometers. It was the most difficult and most rewarding experience I've ever had.
